VDO Oil gauge bulb/holder

Post by Attack2001 » 24 Feb 2012 12:53 am

Hi all, looking into fitting my extra gauges now, and i've just realised only one of them has a backlight. Looks like i need to buy some bulbs and holders. Has anyone got an idea of where i could get them? i've looked all over the web but cant seem to find them, only newer style one that dont look like they're going to fit. Its this bit i need if you dont get what im on about, i get confused by myself a lot of the time  haha

I need 2, including the bulbs. Any ideas? Thanks, Thomas.........................

I have some of the style before that (brass, bayonet fitting) but those I thought were the newer ones.

I got mine from US ebay from memory, wasn't much even with the postage, think I had to get 5. Worth a look there then give VDO themselves a ring bud.

Hi Thomas.
Anything that fits into the back of the gauge will do your job.
If you want i will have a look in my parts stash and see what i have got
before you go spending silly money on one.
Cheers Mark.

The bulbs should be available new from Bosch. I don't know the actual type number unfortunately ...

Cheers

The bulbs look like 1.2W capless things. I've got the number on a box in the glovebox.

They are the same (98% certain).

I've just jumped into a nice warm bed, so by about lunchtime, if I remember, I'll go the opposite side of this wall and dive into the glovebox and get a number ;)

Just thought i'd put up a little update. After i got MCHUDD's spare holder (Thanks once again! ) I still needed one more, after much looking around i found one that looked pretty much the same. £13 later and i got this, perfect fit, exactly the same :D :D

***Any ideas where i can some more of these nuts that are used to hold the gauge in? you can see one right at the top***

I got it from here, its the very top one :)
