Bulbs behind switches

Quick tip this one, the small bulbs that help illuminate the fan and light switches are just the standard 12V 1.2W type and are simple enough to obtain.

That's not what this is about. Its about the bulbs that are directly inside the switches, such as rear window demist and rear fogs and hazards. You'll find that if you replace them with the standard ones detailed above then you'll have far too bright bulbs and also the switches will get uncomfortably hot, so:

The correct bulbs for these switches is 24V 1W type. You will probably get a few raised eyebrows at your local factors but those are the ones that you'll need. (Incidentally for 360 owners with front fog lights, you'll need the brighter 12V bulbs for the illumination inside that particular switch)

Just in case that confused you here's a list of all the panel bulbs I can remember and the type you need.

12V 1.2W:
Lighting Switch
Fan Switch
Front Fog Light Switch

24V 1W:
Rear window demister switch
Rear Fog Light Switch
Hazard Switch
Dash dimmer switch
AC switch

Hope that helps

Good work mate. As you know, the bulbs in my 360 are very bright, and the fog light switch gets hot, despite supposedly being the right bulb then? Unless it's of an even higher rating still. I'll get all new ones of the correct rating and replace at some point! Cheers mate.

Bump....Crikey...I'd never really thought twice about this. I've seen quite a few switches with cracked housings thanks to this.

I do have to ask how you found out though....pretty impressively obscure information :)

cheers
