A few new shiny bits for the car

Image

Not too happy with the wheel though at the momment because of the boss, there is no means of attaching the volvo scwob to the back of the boss so at the momment I have no horn or self cancelling indicators. Im not too keen on a horn not on the wheel either so I need to find a way to attach the scwob

And a tidy (rare :P) e30

Ive managed it several times, and Im useless!

*Edit for link:
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... s&start=30

Takes two mins with a Dremmel etc.

That is what I was thinking of, but I would like a spare to modify, so I can easily go back to the old wheel

The wheel is much nicer though, much easier to control the car :P

Been doing some welding. One patch on the sill and a large bit in the arch.

Still have some to do in the top of the arch and will take the wing off to do it

Image

Cut out the outer skin but the inner skin had also rotted

Image

Image

I was very happy with this welding as it was first time using mig, you can see the progression from left to right :P

Image

Rushed the outer skin as i was also manning the phone at the garage so started to get distracted with the 5 o clock phone calls

Image

Begining of the arch repairs, I struggled abit with the vertical runs but had got better by the second patch

I also weld the seam where Id bent the the sheet up to match the edge of the arch.

Image

I struggled then with the bottom peices, I dont think I did as good a job prepping as it was abit more of a mess,

Any little tips would be nice, Im pretty happy for now. I think Ill grind them all down abit and stone ship them at a later date. I have sprayed red oxide already, dont worry :P

We have had a new volvo in the family

Image

V70 D5 SE, Dad loves it and bought it on my recommendation :P He got the polstar re-map so its now up to 205bhp and 450nm (the same as the new ones?) It has all the extras including the exciting radar :)

Done a couple of jobs to the volvo.

First I replaced a rear wheel bearing, it was making a some noise, but replacing it doesnt seem to have removed all the noise so perhaps the other one needs replacing or its the diff :/ I replaced the OS first as it was making an audiable noise when I spun the wheels, however the in car noise comes from the NS. It wasnt an easy job but luckly the bearing came out easily although the inner race was stuck to the stub axle, I managed to grind it off though.

Image

Painted it up abit and cleaned the bearing carried. I know its in the wrong way round :P. It came up very shinny!

Image

Pressed in the stub axle, and treated it to some new nuts lol!

Second job was a new exhaust, back box and centre section

Image

This backbox fits much better than the old one, the tailpipe is clear of the spring, but it still doesnt sit as level as I would like.

While I had the paint out a sprayed the sill to match the other side after my welding

Image

I also tried on some new shoes

Some Rotas 16s

Image

Image

And some compomotives 15s

Image

What do people think of them? I like the rotas, need to find the money though :P

Good work!

Rota's look the best but I can't help feel as if they need to be wider and of a lower offset :)

Cheers :), they 6.5J so not wide, more negative offset would be nice to get them poking out a bit more

Looks good dude. Out of interest, where did you get vented disks for it? Or have you got some kind of custom setup?

Thanks guys :)

Mark, I got the discs of someone breaking their 340 on here, I think he got them custom made. I also bought his fredo DS2500 pads, but tbh they have been abit poor and have started breaking up. I dont think my brake system need alittle overall (pipes and cailper wise) as there appear to be a few leaks, nothing horrendus as of yet though.

Rotas look great! Not sure about the compos myself. good to see all the work that's going in too.

Mark, I think they're just drilled ands slotted, not vented. Could be wrong though. The drilled and slotted discs you can get of ebay for 60 quid.
