well well well been quite quiet on here recently, but the other night i had a very sad moment in my 340
Heres a pic
Image

Dont hate me to much, please. No excuses i was being a stupid typical twat driver, me and a few friends were out driving late at night on some nice cornish back roads that are all national speed limit but in a 340 you would have to be a fucking god to get to 60 on them ha.
Anyway we came up to a square left and i came around and my friend had under steered straight into a nice cornish hedge and wrote off his 106, luckily i wasnt go much more than 30 and was able to avoid him but my wheels locked up on the mud that he had chucked everywhere from the hedge and i just went straight for a nice cornish hedge, containing some huge granite rocks.
ive done my best to repair it for the mean time but im still so pissed off with my self! and luckily i had all the parts to fix it.
ive learnt my lesson now!

It happens bud, I think very few people could say they didn't have a "moment" not long after they passed. Some get away with it happening in nice open places with no one around, others find something to hug along the way.

If you can take from this what's need you'll have got away with this stage of the learning a lot better than some.

Good job on the repair. Be super careful to check the chassis rails arn't rippled and the subframe similar. No point making another "moment" more likely than it should be.

Ah well, we all do stupid stuff. Some of us crash, some of us just get lucky. I once slid to the edge of a very steep embankment in my first car, Italian job bus style. That could have ended badly. Main thing is that you've learned from it (if it makes you feel better 1 in 5 people crash in their first year).

As for the repairs, actually looks really good considering it's something you just threw together :D

Ah I'd be gutted, but at least its all ok now :D

lesson learnt! Don't follow 106s!

Yes we've all had momments after we passed some of us lucky and some not so lucky :(

Got it up on my ramp and luckily the chasis is fine, as soon as i had done it I thought if the chassis bent I'm going to go crazy, the parts I had to change to fix it are; headlight, bumper, profile bar( bit that goes between headlight and bumper, luckily had one the same colour!), trumpet (bit which bumper bolts on to, these things take most the impact), wing. Oh and the only thing I had to pay for was the stickers to cover the scratch on the bonnet.

Well done on the speedy repair, bad news on the crash. Looks like you were lucky the main force missed the chassis rail and went for the valance/wing. I've been getting parts off a 360 in a scrap yard today and it's got a perfect (and I mean perfect) bonnet in blue. Not quite your blue but no rust or dents at all. Could get it if you want it. Just transport is a bit tricky. Although we are coming down in the summer I don't think carrying a bonnet around Dorset (we are going there first) in the caravan will make me very popular.

Glad no one else was involved so insurance isn't affected!

Crap times dude! Fair play on that resto work! Good job! I like the look of it more now, weirdly.

Nice one Theo, you've done yourself proud! What other plans have you got for it?

If he wants it, get it. I can store/transport it from Dorset if needs be (it'll fit in the back of a saloon, right?)

Everyone crashes when they're 17/18 :-) The important thing is to turn 21 and remain alive ;-) Good to see your car's still in action too ...

Cheers

Hi Theo.
Well done on the repair work. That sort of thing happens to the best of us.
Getting out in one piece is the main thing.
Cheers Mark. sm4

I hadn't thought of that! We can manage to get it to Dorset OK (One stop on route overnight), will fit in the caravan. Not sure about a saloon though, I doubt it will fit in a hatch either. We could leave it at yours while we are in Dorset then take it over on the journey to Cornwall. When i think about it we could just keep it under the caravan while we are camped in Dorset anyway!

The offers there for storage - unfortunatly it would be a bit different as a "come and go" thing as it's my parents house and I only visit about once a month  So it's likely I wouldn't be there for either delivery or pickup. But I can be there for a drop off. This causes problems also as I wouldn't be able to transport it later.

Yeah that might be an idea just to keep it under the caravan.

Bonnets fit in a hatch...

There was a small audience gathered around when I bought one at a BKV 6/7 years ago hoping that I wouldn't make it fit
