Can I throw MY78 in the ring, Mr H?
I wasn't sure wehn the changeover was on the quater light strip, so model years up to MY79 also has them too, maybe more chance of finding some :P

Not holding my breath over wide gutter strips though. I did manage to save the (thin fronted) gutter trim from the 343 in the breakers although 3 of the 4 bits were damaged. They came off easily but I'm not sure if the curviture they now have renders them useless. Would do for repair sections for dmaged ones if nothing else available. The ones on JAK are fine so they are just spares.

I still think that the 5 door quater lights look different to 3 doors, it must me just me!

Yeah, my 79 has wide trims, but the 80 did not. Interesting point about the quarterlights, now I've looked again

cheers

Thanks for that, I thought they looked different, I first noticed it when I saw your blue 345 at Crich parked in the line up, they just looked a different angle to the ones on my 3 door GLS. Even less chance of finding any then! I'm sure I can adapt the ones on JAK to give the same effect, with just 2 thin strips of stainless steel stuck to the edges (I have the damaged rain gutters from the 343 in the breakers). Would be nice to find some proper ones before I sort the doors out though. Any time in the next six to 12 months!

Just a quick post to let anyone who remembers this car/thread know that it's not been totally abondoned.

As is often the case....too many Volvos (and now transits) and not enough time.

I also have a growing collection of old transit tippers, 4 to be truthfull, plus the main one I drive every day, one of the others until recently was also on the road as a backup vehicle to cover breakdown/maintenance.

Just keeping the 2002 tipper going, now 13 years old has sucked up all of my time over the last two summers. Engine replacement, gearbox replacement, rust, and an almost complete renovation/refresh of the tipping body and cab (to be completed this summer). The odometer now stands at just over 232,000 miles! By no means have I done all the work but I spent ages on preping and welding the inner sills, chipping rust/underseal off and reprotecting the front inner wheel arches and renovating the body not to mention work on the other back up truck and now starting on it's replacement.

I have indeed bitten off far too much. I also have a 360 saloon and a 440 Turbo which are languishing at the yard at the moment. I hope to get back to work on JAK 74W soon. Maybe Dai will have those new gearbox mounts ready for me when I do!

Might have not signed in a few times, I was away most of December and not been doing anything with the cars over winter. Quiet on here I expect due to Facebook, pity as the forum is actually a better way to record things. I've been sorting out a non working odometer on my 740 as well. Hope to be more active soon!
