I had one of the bolts snap off when I was dismantling the beam on the scrap 360 (not an issue as it's scrap!), made a mental note to do it differently on the Mk1, must remember to apply a bit of heat then and take it easy!

Mac I don't think there's any chance that won't win best 300 in show next year! The question is will it win overall best in show......there's a challenge :D

BTW:
volvodspec wrote:the subframe bolts are loctited in AND a bit too long to make the part that comes through the welded inserts corrode, with enough heat from a torch they do come out with normal 1/2 tools just fine though :D
this....Volvo have been extra secure and as well as making the inserts inside the chassis rail incredibly long to get a good long contact, they also loctited the buggers in!! I snapped two before I realized I was going down the wrong route and got the blowtorch out. Don't need a lot of heat though, just enough to soften the loctite, so unusually you can just heat the bolt directly, rather than the surrounds as you would normally do.

[threadjack] Yes it is thanks. I'm camped in Cape Leveque, WA at the moment, and then I'll be heading down to Perth. [/threadjack]

Very nice powder coating, am jealous. Have done my back suspension in black resin epoxy 121 and grey underseal (over epoxy 121), diff in silver + black, tank in black, going to leave the front suspension until after all welding.

UPDATE

Been a little neglectful of late - I plead "life" - however I have aquired for the project a:-

Hella Grille (from Richard of the DOC via a "deal swap" with Macplaxton)

Image

and a 3 door opening rear window "kit" from Stamford via e-bay (thanks for the tip Chris C)

Image

Have been putting a little time in on the engine though - the new "cad" plating is a little bright but I'm sure
it will tone down a bit in use,

UPDATE

With life, the forthcoming BKV, family "matters" my boltshop etc. getting in the way of things
I have been somewhat neglecting the "project", but I have squeezed in some time of late.

Sent a spare set of calipers off to "Bigg Red" for refurb. Chose their polymer coating (resistent
to oil, heat, hydaulic fluid, petrol etc,). I have yet to run a tap through the carrier threads but
I must say I'm well pleased with the finish.

I shall have the front suspension, brakes etc. assembled, on the V3M stand at the BKV - as a demo to show off
Robbert Jans, and Dais parts. - so keep yer greasy mitts orf me calipers!

In total? If we're talking cumulatively, then he must of racked up about -100 now. :P
