Do you have the cover for the CVT? I'm assuming you took it off for viewing, I never had any problems with the rain BUT if you go through floodwater you will get some slight slippage if you put your foot down The water was pretty deep though(about top of the sills!

Oh I do have a set of covers. As you said, have been removed for display purposes.
The only thing they are good for is to keep road debris out of the pulleys but makes it hard for people to appreciate (and also hard to spot problems).
I have never encountered (read- avoid, like the plague) deep water with a Vario due to slippage but rain never bothers them as we all know.
