Volvo 340 DL Globetrotter '88

Post by Maestro_UA » 02 Nov 2012 06:22 pm

At once I ask to forgive me for my English. I write by means of the translator. =)

Hello all. My name is Alexander. I live in Ukraine, in the beautiful city of Lviv. About this forum I know long ago, probably since 2004-2005. I am the owner of the Volvo car 340DL 1988 years of manufacture, the engine 1.6 diesel. This car 8 years in a family, much that was with it, there were pleasant moments, happened also bad (propeller shaft breakage, beam break on which the engine keeps...). But this car very much is pleasant to me, to sell it I do not want, as alternative, among cars of our and Russian production simply isn't present.

Now it is more attentive about the car.
Volvo 340DL 1.6 diesel engine.
Colour - 304-6 (graphite gray)
Transmission - M45R (from plant there should be M47R, but someone from last owners replaced it on not to the reasons known to me).
The car was imported into my country from France. I am the 3rd owner.

In the summer of this year a major repair of the engine is made, all details are replaced, respective work with the engine block, a head etc.
For this time I assemble the necessary sum on body restoration (years affect a condition threw).

At present bought 4 doors. I will shortly buy thresholds for a body and a windshield. Repair of a body will be in the spring/summer. The car now goes nearly an every day (no more than 30-40 km.).

Well and as it is necessary, photos of the car =)

Thanks! =)
I thought them fully in Europe. Guys with volvo300club.nl too said that it is not enough diesel engines, and that at them deficiency happens to spare parts.
I with it have no special problems. It is possible to find all on our Volvo a forum, or under the order to take on official service of Volvo in my city (I have a discount small as I am the regular customer at them)

In the future I would like it to finish the car.
In dreams to establish the B204GT engine or F7R, conjure with a running gear, transmission, well and on appearance to make a small styling.
It is very interesting car in respect of a technical aspect: ideal distribution of weight on shafts 50:50, a rear wheel drive...

Looking at your tuning projects at me simply shock! sm11 :D

Yes, that thread gave me a little boost but I've been meaning to do it for years. I almost drove to Asia about 3 years ago but the plans fell through when nobody wanted to go with me. And I really couldn't have afforded it just by myself :(

Thinking either a Peugeot 405 diesel or Volvo 940 Diesel

I'm planning a week driving just round holland, never driven abroard before so not going mad to start with. Am determined to go in the 360. I'm going by ferry to amsterdam to get there so am sure I'll find a few mates to help out on the petrol front :)

Back on topic, plans of a b204gt or f7r ... why not keep the Diesel part and stick in something like the isuzu lump found in vauxhall/opel cavaiers or I'd love to see a 300tdi out a landrover in a 300 engine bay

Before doing a major repair of the engine there were two options:
1) to repair the native engine
2) to replace it with an identical diesel engine, but 1.9 from Renault Kangoo But chose the first option as that 1.9 was removed from the car, and to check in what it an "excellent" condition there was no possibility.

My friends over me joke, say that I would put the turbo from Scania :D
I yet didn't see diesel engine alterations. This is good idea. It is necessary only money, the desire and straight arms is always =)

One year ago decided to make to experiment)
Good advice for at someone a bumper aren't painted color of a body: if you want that yours of a steel bumper would shine more darkly, there is one good way it to realize (not painting certainly, is much cheaper)

And so that is necessary for us:
1. Dry rag (fabric, etc.)
2. Coca-Cola

A little Coca-Cola it is poured on a rag, and we pound on a bumper won't dry yet)

Excuse for photos of such big size =)

Here is how looked a bumper of my car before polishing

And here is how after the ambassador of polishing
