Hurrah, great news - glad this has finally gone to an enthusiast rather than someone out trying to make money on it! Will make a nice car with some tinkering :)

Glad to see this car finally finding a home.

Castrol valvemaster is the additive I personally recommend and it is proven to work. Millers VSP is another tested product. It is also best to keep to the same brand.

VSP has been replaced with VSPe to add ethanol neutralisers now. I keep a bottle in Fake for when whatever petrol station I turn up to only has semi skimmed.

Thanks for all the advice, what a friendly forum, it's like being adopted by a whole new family!! I haven't got any intention of trying to make money out of this little baby, it's just that I think they are quite rare and, whilst it has no real records, the original owner's widow has assured me that it's mileage is genuine and that indeed it did sit in their garage for around about 20 years both before and after her husband passed away. Unfortunately during that time it was bashed about abit as other items came and went from the garage around it! I went into buying it with my eyes open, it's had a few amateur paint jobs, presumably quite recently as it did the dealer circuit, but in general it's a solid car that hasn't been badly abused and the basis for a summer project. I bought it for little money and it has 12 months MOT.
Mechanically, absolutely beautiful, starts off the key 1st time every time and runs smooth as hell. Gearbox performs fine and is most unusual to drive (vario) Only one advisory, perished rear cv boots, so nothing much there.
This is my first venture with an old Volvo, I own a small business that runs all Volvos, I am a fan! 17 V70s , 12 S40s and 3V40s, all of which are around 10 years old now except for my own V70 and they are absolutely bomb proof cars if you maintain them well, indeed three of my V70s are over the 200k mark!
I will get it out there this summer for everyone to scrutinise and I will soak up any advice or useful info. along the way!
Ian

Do that super pronto.

340 CV joints are very hard to come by (the Triumph boys have nadged all the new ones to replace their flipping shonky Rotoflex's) and no one is making them atm.

Hello again everybody! First week been great fun and started tidying the car up a little bit at a time after work, anybody point me in the direction of a thread on manual sunroof solutions or even know somebody who repairs them , mine will open and close with some manual pushing and pulling but the mechanism seems damaged on one side?

Nice car Pierre :-) The south of France sounds like the ideal place for a car to get up to a ripe old age, no salt, little rain etc. etc.

Cheers
