MY83 Volvo 340 DL with B19A engine
Last friday, I drove back with my first 340 DL with B19A engine (a still hard to believe combination lol), it was a 60 km trip without any incident.
The daily car and the yougtimer together!

It's a very nice car, the bodywork is in very good condition thanks to the Tectyl treatment. The interior is nice, the engine (115.000 km) starts and runs nicely.
The car may be the perfect candidate for a R-sport upgrade

Superb, I love the basic-ness of the car, the rarity, and the colour combination!
Since you have a few cars to choose from, I'd go for an earlier car to fit the R-Sport kit, either a MY 81 or a MY 82. I'm guessing Volvo "officially" dropped the kit when the B19E was introduced?

+1! The kit is perfect until MY82. But it's here a question of months, the car was registrated in october 82, I suppose a production during +/- the summer '82. The first 360 with B19E came a bit later at the end of the year '82. So I think that the R-kit was still officialy available for the 340 2.0. I guess so! But if you fit the R-Sport kit you'd probably also want to fit a rev counter. And then maybe some alloys. And once you've gone down that route there's no going back

I did think it was a 345... presumably that has the earlier dashboard too? Perfect for the R-Sport kit!

Further investigations on the car have proved the theory of a little bump with repairs:
* unpainted front bumper supports (black with surface rust instead of beige), and reused beige painted bolts.
* the paint aspect and color are a little bit different on the front valance, molding between bumper and grille, bonnet (only outside, not inside) and tailgate, compared to the rest of the car.
The repair seems to be great, but did they use the right front valance? I don't know! I've seen pictures of another MY83 340 DL with B19A in the Netherlands, this time with foglights holes ... But 38.000 cars were produced between mine (older) and that one, that's a lot, they could have changed their mind with front valance choices! Still need to compare with more cars!

The only way to be sure is to investigate the positioning and shape of the spotwelds.
To do it proper will mean the removal of the headlamp(s) and looking at both sides of the valance.

My '82 DLS had a small bump at some point, and the Volvo dealer replaced the front valance for one with foglight holes. Seconded Beasts thoughts, depending on when it was they may not have been able to get the 360 panel easily and a 340 one was laying around in a dealers.
Aymat, get those trumpets off, scotchbrited and painted before they are knackered, that black is the primer Volvo sends all panels out with, it doesn't have a waterproof coat on it!

Yes, that could be an explanation. Or I can easely imagine the guy ordering parts, getting a list of parts to be changed from someone else, and not seeing the car. Based on the weird car identificaction "340 DL", you'll spontaneously select the normal front valance in the Volvo books! Definitely something to do. Most of the genuine Volvo panels that I have in my stock, with the same black primer, have surface rust due to damp environments in the past...
