Re: Duchess The Volvo 340 CVT
good day all, sorry for lack of replies and updates, I was moving in to my first house.
03/04/17
So with the car gone there is a empty space where she sat.... this is not good.... almost sad, but still cracking on with the engine and other bits ready to go back in to her.
first was i finally got an adapter to fit the oil pressure sender, just waiting on the little spade connector so i dont have to cut wires etc
20170403_104342 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
carried on putting all the nice shiney new bits on the engine... I am very surprised there has not been more mocking of the blue!
end seal went in
20170403_104347 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
alternator brackets went on
20170403_112301 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
followed by the alternator and the pulleys

20170403_123638 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
20170403_123643 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
still need to torque up the bolts
next up was the inlet and exhaust manifold and the coolent pipe (unknown name)
20170403_123649 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
installed the studs for the exhaust

20170403_135803 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Next on my list of things to do is the seat, the covers need a good wash, so started to dismantle them.
rear lower seat first
20170403_144347 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
20170403_144835 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
next was a front seat, you can see the heated pads all screwed up, but appear to have electrical continuity

04/04/17
stopped off at the painters to drop off missing bolts and the rear door plastic grills, they had made a start on the rear quarter panel
20170404_085330 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
20170404_085336 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
then i went up to carry on with the seat dismantling

Re: Duchess The Volvo 340 CVT
Hello all, sorry for the delay in replying with more pics, been manic and have not got internet in the new house yet, but here is the updates
09/04/17
decided to put a new crush washer on the oil pressure sensor just to make sure all was ok
20170409_104930 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Attempted to get the bumper insert looking really good... in the end i sent them off to the paint shop to do them.
20170409_104938 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
in the mean time the new connectors arrived for the oil pressure sensor
20170409_112152 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
also adjusted all the tappets, i will redo this again once in the car
20170409_112156 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
the bumper inserts sanded down again
20170409_121733 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
the completed engine, just waiting on new nuts and washers for the rocker cover and V belt, both of which should be here soon and just need to torque up the crank and water pump pulley bolts
20170409_145341 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
the bumper inserts, GLT front lip and snowcap all painted up, but like i said the painters are going to re do my work as i was still not happy with it.
20170409_150901 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
20170409_150907 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
went to see the car, and a good start has been made

Please tell me what you think to all, I know some of it is a little off from original, but i like it just cant wait to get the car back.

Re: Duchess The Volvo 340 CVT
Looks like its going to be better than mine, I feel bad my seat frame is rusty and the seat covers foam layer (or whatever) is disentegrating.
I thought the front inner plastic trims were black, or is there 2 colours.

Oh and yes, there were two colours used for the non colour coded bumpers of Mk3's. Earlier cars prior to circa '87-early 88 had grey bumpers and later cars was more a dark grey/black. I think the latter looked better, the grey tended to look as if they were supposed to be black but have faded
