some more work done.
21/06/2017
started by putting the painted metal back in the dash
Image2017-06-21 08.44.19 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

next i set about fitting the alarm and immobiliser first was the siren
Image2017-06-21 10.01.02 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-21 10.01.10 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

next on the list was the immobiliser relay
Image2017-06-21 11.43.46 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Then my farther in law turned up with the crimps and connectors needed to carry on, showed me how to install them and now the radiator wiring is fixed
Image2017-06-21 14.16.05 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

after a massive game, i have the alarm and central looking kits installed, I think they are going to live here, hoping the vent pipes clear, if not going to have to have a rethink.
Image2017-06-21 14.52.17 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

fastened down the relay and added to my earths
Image2017-06-21 14.52.23 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-21 14.52.27 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

the alarm wire to the brakes
Image2017-06-21 14.54.54 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

a big mass of wires, but the alarm is installed and all the extra relays are there
Image2017-06-21 16.00.52 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-21 16.01.00 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

alarm siren installed and wired up
Image2017-06-21 16.57.51 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

center console offered up to gauge fitting and wires
Image2017-06-21 17.42.13 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

central locking and lighting pins ready, wires will be tsea taped up once i am happy with finish
Image2017-06-21 17.42.16 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
central locking wires will have new connectors installed

parking sensors control box installed and also the fuel filler neck
Image2017-06-21 17.42.40 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-21 17.42.43 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

just while i was packing up, i decided to have a look at the rear central locking, I can see where the factory would be fitted, but my after market one fouled the rod, so a little bit of bending solved that, next there was no way i could get my hand in to connect the door rod to the locking rod, so i got creative.... and bent it back on itself
Image2017-06-21 17.43.12 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-21 17.44.03 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
and i am pleased to say it worked, so next time i will do the other door and get the lower vents in for fitting.

hope you enjoy, please feel free to comment

So does the alarm have remote locking and can you have central locking/unlocking aswell as remote locking. I would like remote locking but using original locks its not possible to have both without major surgery.

Yes it has remote central locking and no major surgery, the locking works on the key two, just need to add a wire and a 5 pin locking motor.

Image2017-06-26 13.44.49 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Image2017-06-26 13.44.57 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

wired up my stereo to the front speakers, wiring for the rear will follow
Image2017-06-26 13.45.00 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Image2017-06-26 19.06.10 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-26 19.06.15 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Another little update today, received the bolts from Mac which allowed me to get thing put back together some more.
27/06/2017
Started off today by fitting the bumpers, they will have to come off again but it gets them out of the way for now
I have not put the chrome strip in yet, i have 1 new strip and 1 old, I would like to find a second new strip ideally
Image2017-06-27 10.50.35 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-27 11.20.48 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Passed all the parking sensor wires through a nice new grommet, i'll seal up the hole after at the final fitment
Image2017-06-27 11.20.59 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-27 12.58.06 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

new grommet for the fuel pump wire, again this will be sealed up upon final fitment
Image2017-06-27 11.21.03 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

then carried on with the wiring jobs, the rain was on the way so didnt want to get on with anything big
Image2017-06-27 12.58.21 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-27 13.11.03 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

upon fitting the metal divider in the rear door, i found out that my aftermarket lock motor would not fit, however after a chat with Dai, he has a pair of rear motors an all the linkage which he will supply to me :)
Image2017-06-27 13.11.20 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

then moved on to getting the carpet back in the car, this was really hard, trying to remember how it went back in was fun, but it is done now at last
Image2017-06-27 14.40.59 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Question for you guys, I have put the rear quaterlight glass back in and the metal strip, but now i can not get the glass to go in, how the hell do you reassemble the rear doors, is there a guide out there?

please help

Lol I had the same problem, but I can't remember the process, i'll check photo archives, think I tried to record it. Keep staring and fiddling, maybe remove or lower the winder mech. Might be talking rubbish.

Hi Ben.
Brilliant job. Just an idea but how about doing the wireing for the rear speakers
while you have the interior out. Save a lot of hassle later. Four speakers is
much better that two.
Cheers Mark.

next installment
05/07/17
Good evening all
First i should say i am in the process of re-linking all my pic from the shit site known as photobucket, they want $400 a year so my pics can be shown on here, let me think erm NO. sm2 sm2

So started today with trying to tackle the other rear door, and in the process work out how the thing goes back together.
for ref the quaterlight goes in first, then the window, making sure the regulator is not there, tilt the glass slightly and insert the centre bar once all in place rivit and bolt the centre section and then put the regulator on.
Image20170705_101728 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_160802 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I then moved on to connecting up the parking sensors and testing them
Image20170705_101743 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_101753 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

moved on to the rear speakers, getting the surrounds ready for the new speakers
Image20170705_110740 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_110742 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I then decided that the new grill should go in, I think it looks so good!
Image20170705_114611 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I then set about putting the boot trim back in place along with all the seat beats and B-pillar trim
Image20170705_160808 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_160812 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

while searching for some bits I came across the new speedo cable, so installed that too
Image20170705_160851 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_160915 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_161530 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170705_161539 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Then in the effort to sort out the wiring, I offered up the center console gauges
Image20170705_162942 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

and also installed the choke cable
Image20170705_181039 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

That was all today, more to keep coming

Good evening all, the next installment, doesn't look like a lot, but there was a lot of problem solving and tweeking which took most of the day

07/07/2017
First of all, the new rear speakers went in
Image20170707_103432 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170707_103432 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

next i applied what i learned from the other rear door and did the drivers rear door
Image20170707_111120 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

then I sorted out the rear wiper electrics and the boot light
Image20170707_134656 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170707_134704 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Also learned in the process that the new boot lid does not have a center brake light like my old one did

After a bit of faffing i found out why there was no power to the rear washer jet and motor...... pluging it in helps
Image20170707_134730 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I then found my 8mm I.D hoses so decided to put it to good use
Image20170707_142556 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

am i right in assuming this pipe goes to the air intake underside?
Image20170707_142607 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

am i also right in assuming that the air take of the inlet manifold goes the the brake booster?
Image20170707_142614 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Next i moved on to getting the head liner in place i think it is in right but i was not sure how the to long bars go in down the sides
anyone got some good pics?

Ben

Hi Ben.
Is that a mac carb you have?
By the way, i think you might need a new front tyre.
Cheers Mark.

Yes, The one pointing to the front of the car is the air filter one. The one point up in the vacuum source T-piece. The two pointing to the bulkhead are the overdrive (nearest engine) and kickdown (nearest wing).
