hello all, a little update on the wing mirrors today.
14/05/2017
Image20170511_150846 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

decided to examine the electric wing mirrors, so started to dismantle the drivers side one, however this one was not in the best condition..
Image20170514_104901 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
mirror glass out
Image20170514_105039 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
removed the motor and found it broken
Image20170514_105103 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
as you can see the metal backing plate is very rusty
Image20170514_105108 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
my OCD would not allow this
Image20170514_105125 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image20170514_105127 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

did the same to the passenger mirror and discovered that the motor had been replaced at some point
Image20170514_110549 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I am hoping the chap that sold me the wing mirror can find another drivers one, as it is buggered :(
In the mean time i will clean up the metal and rust encapsulation them

Aren't you missing the radiator holder-in-place tabs at the bottom, an L-shape with a hole in one end that hold the rubber in place?

Hi mate.
New car you have there.
I also have a mac carb. When i saw yours, i thought you had nicked mine lol.
He did a brilliant job on mine. Your rad hoses will keep your rad in place so
you can get away without those little bracket thingys.
Cheers Mark.

Hello all, just a little update.
04/06/17
So today decided to have a play with the heated window switch to make the switch a mono switch (push to make) and added a timer relay so the heater element stays on for 10 mins.

Image20170604_212446 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Then wrapped the whole look in tesla tape.
Image20170604_212527 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

That's all for now.

Hello all, so quite a bit more has been done although it does not look like it...
12/06/2017
Only had half a day today so cracked on with the sound deadening
Roof insulated
Image2017-06-12 15.20.54 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

bulkhead and floor deadened
Image2017-06-12 18.49.07 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-12 18.51.11 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

and part of the boot done (I ran out of the deadening more is on the way)
Image2017-06-12 18.48.11 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

This took several hours to complete, so at the end of the day i thought i would offer up the alloys and see if they bolted down well and the hub cover still went on with the longer studs
They did :D
Image2017-06-12 18.55.15 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

13/06/2017
Today i got an early start and got all the bulkhead insulation glued back on, big jigsaw  Image2017-06-13 10.16.07 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

then moved on the the tunnel deadening and insulation
Image2017-06-13 10.47.17 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Now this was done i refitted the steering column (need to replace the horn and stalk bracket
Image2017-06-13 12.46.01 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

replaced the wiper arm mechanism
Image2017-06-13 12.46.09 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-13 12.46.12 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

I then moved on to other things so added the black insert to the front bumper
Image2017-06-13 12.50.09 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-13 12.50.16 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

mocked up the rear bumper and marked 4 holes :D then had to wait for the drill....
Image2017-06-13 13.18.02 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
so again change of direction

cut the new foam for the heater box
Image2017-06-13 13.22.27 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

lined up the heater box
Image2017-06-13 13.38.22 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

fitted the fan resister (please tell me if i got the wires wrong?)
Image2017-06-13 14.05.30 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-13 14.05.33 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

buttoned it all up for now
Image2017-06-13 14.11.05 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

added the throttle cable
Image2017-06-13 14.20.45 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
Image2017-06-13 14.20.53 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

then went to add the heater matrix... the heater box had to come off again ... my bad...
Image2017-06-13 14.52.13 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr
also threw the wiring in to see what it looked like.

Now the drill became available i set about making holes in the rear bumper, I cut the locating plastic bung out and cut the 4 holes
Image2017-06-13 17.17.37 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

added the wires
Image2017-06-13 17.19.11 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

the parking sensors fitted in nicely and were not to deep for the channel behind the insert
Image2017-06-13 17.20.14 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

Image2017-06-13 17.47.03 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

fastened down the wires
Image2017-06-13 17.47.19 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

fixed the fuel lines
Image2017-06-13 18.11.11 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

added the floor insulation
Image2017-06-13 18.13.31 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

back on her wheels
Image2017-06-13 18.54.31 by Benjamin Charlton, on Flickr

thats all for a week now
