trabitom's Mk1 343 GL Touring
I was really after a B19-engined DLS/GLS manual, but this little B14 Vario will do nicely for now
It could do with a polish ("what a lovely pink car, Daddy!" - grmph ), and erm, one or two other things, but it comes with 6 months' MOT and I'm really looking forward to it
First job is to get it to Bonn in one piece, it hasn't done many miles in the past few years ...
Cheers
Tom

Good work Tom! This is turning into Volvo's anonymous, my name is Pete, I also have a similar problem, and have been suffering for many years, recently, I even moved onto the bigger Volvo's! I think I now own 9 Volvo's.
Nice looking car, a good polish and it'll be fine! Looks pretty sound, the rusty looking bits to me look more like drainage dirt, waxoyl or the like over spill, or only surface rust at the moment. Either way, a nice find! The early cars seem to be coming out of the woodwork recently, but less and less Mk3's are about!
Are you used to the variomatic system, I can't remember if you've owned one or not!? Great fun and very clever, just a shame it revs so high at any sort of speed, but at low speeds or twisty roads, marvellous.
Btw Tom, once again, I've not forgotten about a certain PAS rack, I should get it off the subframe tomorrow and boxed up safely to get a quote on postage, I've found a decent company too that aren't stupidly costly.
Pete

Pete, I know very little about varios. The car has a few "issues" there. I read mac's excellent CVT overview last night but will still have some questions. I'll post those as a reply to Björn Belters recent post though. (BTW thanks for keeping me updated on the PAS parts )petefarrell360 wrote:Are you used to the variomatic system, I can't remember if you've owned one or not!?
The car is fairly rusty underneath and will require welding for the next MOT. Funnily enough, the nose cone is as good as perfect, and all the doors and the hatch are fine. It goes, steers and brakes nicely - doesn't feel at all like a 28 year old car!
But what I'm really happy with is the fact that it's a "Touring". That means: Oettinger accessories. Front spoiler and decals are the same, even the boot spoiler is the Oettinger "Zender" version rather than the standard Volvo Mk1/2 rear spoiler. I read here (clickme) it was the same as the one fitted to a VW Scirocco?
All that's different from the Oettinger Version is the rev counter (which I have) the rims (which I don't have) the seat trim (which looks the same as on the basic L versions) and the missing engine tuning, which (according to German forum entrys) is not a bad thing Oh, and the transmission of course
More pics when I pick it up on Saturday ...

Well, it's still a little early to call it "saved". It depends a bit on the extent of the work needed come MOT time (welding).
But it's a reprieve, anyway

1976 now thats early and looks good, yes alot of mk1's seem to be coming on the market.

Well if it is that bad you will have to sell it to me I would save it just for the front spoiler
