been told that a calibra turbo one is rated at more than enough, still got to check first though, and reason for not an uprated pump is possible smaller fule hoses needed, my 360 one is shagged and tbh i dont fancy dropping the 940 one into the tank after i have done the wireing

Ah...was your car carbed originally? If so, an in-tank might make more sense. I was thinking it was injected, in which case the standard under-car pump is more or less a swap-out for the 940 under-car one (there's also an in-tank lift pump on the 940, but I'm talking about the main high pressure pump under the car).

If the Cally pump is an in-tank unit, that makes sense. To be fair, the in-tank pump from any 200+bhp car will do the job. I've got an S80 T6 (280bhp stock) in-tank pump here, if the Cally ones are a bit spendy. If you're looking for an under-car pump (like the standard 360 injection pump)...the 940 one makes more sense.

cheers

Awesome project this mate!

My dad had a proven 311bhp cavalier turbo (same as calibra 4x4 turbo) running a standard fuel pump with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. So I imagine that pump should be man enough for the job :)

I bought a knock off Bosch 044, well it was claimed to be the equivalent.

Have you fitted an injection tank? Mine was carbed too, and I thought running an 8mm feed would be enough, but I think the return I bodged into the carb tank may have had a lot to do with my occasional running issues. It was just T pieced into the lines initially, but I didn't like that either.

Proper injection tank is the way to go IMO.

If the Cally one is inline, I'd just use the 940 one you have...it's certainly fine for more power than the drivetrain will take, and it's free! I would second the vote to swap in an injection tank and lines. Not essential, but probably easier long-term!

Yes, it has two - a lift pump in-tank, and a high pressure pump under the car, next to the filter.

It is more or less a drop-in for the 360 injection pump...again under-car. For all I know, it might even be the same pump. Adam's certainly seems happy so far on the standard 360 pump, but we've kept the 940 pump just in case. As I said earlier, I was told the other day that 120bhp B200E (in a 740) and 182bhp B230ET engines both used the same pump...a pump which is good for at least 300bhp. You might need to adapt the hose unions, but you'll have to do that with almost any pump.

cheers

My 940 donor only had an in-tank pump.

Are you absolutely sure, Liam? I've never seen one that doesn't. It's next to the fuel filter, above the brackety plate thing, so you can't easily see it without removing the bracket and turning it over. I guess it could have been adapted...that's a job for us with Ryan's 740...remove the under-car one and stick a Walbro in the tank.

cheers

Well I was until you said that.

The only power wires ran into the tank though!

Sounds the same as my donor mate. I remember the 940 that 13423424234211212311 bought from Iain having an inline pump though. Weird.

Just get yourself an inline one off the bay mate. Personally I would avoid second hand stuff. Can get new OE spec pumps for about £40 and they are listed as being suitable for loads of cars 150 BHP plus.

Or run it on a standard GLT pump. I did to get mine going, borrowed one from Filthyjohn, and as Foggy says, they are fine with it.
