As requested - a video of some noise. Let me know if you want more, I might take the camera to a private road

Sounds nice that, similar to mine but a bit quieter i'd guess as my exhaust is shorter.

Whats it sound like when you actually give it some beans then

Something like this I guess:

This is WOT for a short while. I'm a little scared to give it full beans at the moment, mostly because I don't want to break it while I need it. However, I promise I'll find some quiet lanes and get a proper video up of me giving it some welly in the next few weeks.

And in no way was I racing that chavstra

Theres some wise advice in that reply that i really should take heed of. However they do sound nice higher up in the rev range.

Well that goes without saying, it's not a race unless you've got some sort of competition

I'll let the pictures do the talking. Thanks to Jay and VND for parts :)

Used an old bicycle bracket here allowing ease of re-location if I don't like where it is currently

And in true 300 style (in the way that *something* has to be wrong with the car) the speedo now doesn't work. More work to do :D

Totally agree, colour coded bumpers make that car look very nice now!

Yep, when I'm back from Asia and in a good job, rims are on the menu.

I was thinking this morning it was only a year ago that me and Andy attacked your car with spanners without a huge amount of permission at RR ;) It really is a success to be proud of

I think the best line was Andy saying "That'll be petrol leaking all over your hot manifold then"

In hindsight I feel even less guilty valving my 340 with that knackered 1.7. Leaky carb, severe blowby (oil would gush out the filler cap if undone) and upon splitting the engine finding about 1.5cm dish on the top of the cylinders. Not to mention the state of the cylinder walls

I don't think you should ever feel guilty about putting the Williams in, if it makes the car drive better that's got to be a good thing. More enjoyable and reliable.

I think id does a lot to promote the image of the car to the people who might initially think "whats that old thing", but after seeing how well it goes, and that it doesn't sound like a banger will realise its a cool classic car.

The exhaust looks great too, Im needing one myself.

Bournemouth District Car Club hosted a slalom event last Sunday in a local field. At £20 I just couldn't resist :D With the aid of my trusty woman I got quite a lot of it on film, so enjoy several minutes of me learning how to drive offroad. It gets better as the video goes on, as I learn how to hold slides a lot better.

2 minutes onwards for the best exhaust noise bit, followed shortly by the worst noise (gear popping out).

Also see if you can spot when my gearbox mount goes kaput
