@ the lekdijk from schoonhoven to nieuwegein, the road along the Lek river. nice and twisty

powdercoated parts! not all for this car though, a set of Classicswede 220lbs 2" loweringsprings and the sump are for the 340 turbo.
i've fixed the heater in the meanwhile wich made a big plus, dont need to drive with open windows till engine is hot for keeping a clear windscreen

then came the carb trouble; mixture was a drama. and allthough the fuel consumption was 1:10 and i floored it quiet a lot during that period i just knew that it would be better with another carb. i refurbished a spare one and then one night became the swap:

then i noticed a leak from the breather hose; creating the nasty oil stains, fixed now and cleaned it up

with that done and the engine adjusted by ear and feel it drives a dawm lot better!!

then i had time to actually look at the old carb to pin out what exactly went wrong with it, i knew the carb foot was teared and blamed that for the running problem:

you can even see that the gasket is broken and coming out

but, as i went through the rest of the carb there were a few other things; but this was the biggest problem yet!:

the top is a mixture adjustment screw that came out of this carb, and the bottom one is as it should be wich i had lying around!! the broken piece was caught in the hole blocking the channel, it's funny though that because of the carb foot tear it was running because the idle screw could be set a bit higher making a sort of ok mixture

at oct the 10th another v3c technical day took place and i even had the chance to swap out the sump at the end of the day! in my head it feels a lot better knowing that properly welded steel is keeping the oil in instead of a load of liqued gasket. during the trip to that garage there was more noise coming from under the bonnet, exhaust noise... i found out that the turbo was loose on the manifold with 1 bolt even completely missing! fixed that with stronger bolts + better locking nuts and even new gaskets i hope it stays tight!
now it's time for preparations to the http://www.volvobeurs.nl , i am honored having the privelage that the car is allowed to be on the dutch Volvo300Club stand; along with the fabulous restored 360 GLT from Ronald Romme http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... f=5&t=5570 and a truly spotless white basic model 340 from a polishing guru!
i've cleaned it today and i'm planning on polishing the car this week.

why it's on the stock 13" rims? because i was cleaning the 15"ers

i'll take it slowly with the project after the Volvo Classic Car Fair; next up is rear disc conversion, big brake kit on the front, new front suspension (topmount adjustment + adjustable wishbones & coilover & hopefully the 25mm Classicswede stabiliser) and a changover for the rear suspension going back to the single leaf spring and a coilover damper offcourse powdercoating and all new parts will be allover the place, but this time not in a conventional color

and i've also made a choice about the interior, rear bench has to go making place for the kicker audio install and in the meantime allowing a pair of very good seats + 6pt harnesses to hold me in place while driving, the leather sits very well but i find myself all over the place doing some proper sliding. this saves me a load of engineering (for replacing the fuel tank + mounting spare tire underneath the car) and with an overall nicer result because the inside of the car won't be too busy.
after all that i'll get back to the engine tickling it over the 200bhp border
