Eagle F1's atm mate, which to all intents and purposes can be considered the same they are another super sticky.

I think you are right though, too stiff and the car won't be able to sit on the rear axle as it accels anymore. You can feel all the weight of the car moving onto the rear axle, which I guess is why the bonnet rises on the shocks. I'm trying to work out spring and damping rates atm, but it's a flipping minefield!

I'd not be too worried about the launching grip... stiffer shocks will benefit you far more overall. Rather have wheelspin than a broken prop!

First 2 rallies of the season over the last 2 days!

She's quite a beast to keep on top of now tbh, very much a case of right foot can't be constantly planted

Have done 2000 miles with the new engine, there are a couple of tweaks that still need to be done, but Adams "off the shelf" kit cut out pretty much everything I thought I'd have to fiddle with. I'm hugely happy with it tbh, Fake is much much quicker than I figured it would be (I don't know what I was expecting, but there is *very* little that seems to be able to keep up on launch)

Now I just need to learn how to drive it properly...

I think you are very right. I'm glad I mentioned it, and you sussed out it was doable

Today's news, my wheel bearings have been getting epically bad, to the point I got scared today. After a quick raid of Jason's shed I had in my possession a fully refurbed 360 rear axle (I wanted 360 drums anyway, and Jasons shed was more open on a Sunday than a wheel bearing shop).

It was an epically rushed job as I had to get to my Nans this eve, so no pics I'm afraid. Second anti tramp bar is a snadgers more work than I thought, but still isn't a huge amount. Axle will be coming off again when I have made the bracket up.

Yeah, the carkit gets upset with the new engine. It's the ricer air filter... thing is, it seems that tiny streak of ricer in my can't get rid of it.

I'm led to believe on rallies the thing sounds bloody awesome from the outside!

The reason I rang you was I wanted to know if the wheel bearings in that axle were new, well, I remember you did brakes (cylinders, shoes, drums and lines?) anything else?

No they weren't new... they were the only things that weren't but the car it came off had only done 70k anyway :) I was tempted to do them as it's probably worthwhile when it's off the car

Oh yeah, and do you REALLY get that much induction noise when at high speed (from what it sounded)?

That's good news. Changing rear wheel bearings isn't a fun job so I understand, many people prefer to change the whole rear axle, just like you've done!

a year ago i spend a whole day replacing a rear bearing, broke 2 heavy duty pulley puller's (1 of them was hazet so no garbage!) on it and eventually a big stample + a kingsize 5kg hammer got the bearing out. a few weeks ago i did it a whole lot quicker easier and without breaking tools, the secret: heat the whole thing up smoking hot with a burner  they've used a cylindrical locking loctite on the bearings to keep the outer ring in place

Yeah was gonna say, heat the bearing up before you try and use the puller on it. Anything else = bent equipment. Also, when you reassemble, use the proper Loctite on the splines. Its there for a reason ;)

yep, or else you will have to replace the axle after a while because the bearing can be thrown throug it's mounting hole
