Yeah, why I went for this one too. Equal to the higher end ones as far as I could see too, 1/3rd of the price too.Evoman wrote:I got that pump after my connectors got all fucked and it kept breaking down lol! the screw on connectors are much better
Matt, good on you, bike carbs FTW! That'll be sweet.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
I'd still go LH.... more driveability, likely more powerz (what carbs do most people run? I can't see bike carbs ever being big enough for a 2l, though maybe if it's a 1000cc or similar) only fail is noise.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Got a few bits done recently in between doing revision and exams. Wired in and fitted the new pump, which works well. Also got a rev counter dash installed too, which was very easy to put in and wire up! I swapped all my gauges to the dash with the rev counter in it, as the white backing was slightly different when compared to the clock one. Unfortunately the outer temp gauge doesn't work, as the circuit bored doesn't have the temp gauge connections. I did try and solder on the connections from the other loom, but it hasn't worked. I'm not exactly great with a soldering iron, so I'll try again later when I have the time. Still, the rev counter works well and is nice and smooth, so that's good. Don't think it's calibrated right, but it's a good indication!

This little cylinder is going to be a bracket for the front rad pipe, as it's currently being stopped from flapping about with a cable tie.

Stupidly I drilled the mounting hole M6, when it should have been M8. Doh! I'll get it mounted tomorrow. It mounts where the old rad bolts go, and replaces this:

To finish off a failed quick job on the car, I got a few more pics instead

Quick P-shop of when the coil-overs (end of the month) go on. Should look like this:

Can't wait!

Was nice to give him a wash too! He REALLY needed it, don't think I've washed him since christmas.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Yeah econ gauge came with the car when I bought it!
I do all the machining work at uni yeah, got a few lathes and XYZ milling machines. I seem to be the only one who uses them regularly, I practically live there.
I'm paying the uni fees, I might as well make the most of it.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
We APPARENTLY have all that in our uni but they arent too open to people suing them
I heard we everything, they only just got the 3D printers set up after a year of "we'll 3d printers for students to use"

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
A technician at our uni when I was there used to run an after hours on Thursday "club" for people that wanted to learn the basics and make stuff. Great bloke and had a lot of knowledge to pass on too. Well worth seeking out that kind of chap!jon-ovlov wrote:I do all the machining work at uni yeah, got a few lathes and XYZ milling machines. Re: Derrick the Volvo!
I think my best way would be to design something and ask to make it, then just keep doing it. Next year im on MEng (hopefullly) so maybe ill be allowed more access

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
When I was an engineering student I got the impression that most people that do it have the demina of apes. I R holding spanner. Which is why you aren't allowed near the lathes unless you show that you're compitent. Try the design thing

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Haha, ye and suspect its true of many of the students. I have used lathes and milling machines before (only breifly though)Speedy88 wrote:When I was an engineering student I got the impression that most people that do it have the demina of apes.
