I would just use a normal oil temp sensor in the drain plug (adapter), why are you using a fancy device? You might create oil leaks trying to fab something like that.

The electronics to wire up a normal resistive sensor are not that hard.

the sensor i have can be had for a few pence, that was the main reason, plus it would use less pins on the Board i'm using for the telemetry. It's drilling and tapping the casing(s) that's putting me off really

Not tried since last wednesday, been lackng in motivation recently :( but the upcoming V3M met got me torquing and locktiting stuff on the gearbox/diff and that is now 100% ready for the car. It was raining so prop removal was out of the question lol. Tomorrow, if its dry I'll have a go. We have come up with a way to get it off, going to weld on a bit of ~m16 threaded bar and use a slide hammer esque weight, after putting a nut and large washer on the end of the threaded bar and try and get it out that way. If all that fails we may have to resort to ropes and tow bars  If it is another wet day tomorrow I'll fab up the linkage plate supports. The linkage plate is being mounted solidly to the torque tube. I did this last time with the welder but found that the plate NEEDS to be removable in order to clear the transmission tunnel when installing the torque tube. (or maybe that's just if you leave the bellhousing in place which is where my problems started)

Started a bit of welding on the new backbox, got some lovely bits of stainles pipe with slightly tapered ends off a mate so thinking a twin ~3" exit

Leaving the car standing still on a very wet/ muddy floor is MASSIVELY accelerating rust! Think the wings will need to come off when its working again for some rust removal and re-painting. Also thinking of undersealing it either tomorrow or wednesday - might as well while it's easy(ish) to get under and none of the transmission is in the way. Was gonna go for the big tin of brush on waxoyl stuff?

Will try and get some more interesting updates tomorrow :)

Try using kurust on any little patches of rust before you waxoyl, should be proper then :)

aye was gonna find summit like that. did think of taking all the original stuff off everywhere but thought volvo probably did a better job than i will lol

There's actually very little rust on most of the underside. Chassis is only rusted at the back where they always go and on a few places where speedbumps have been lol. Transmission tunnel is nearly immaculate bar a couple of spots :) Wheel arches them selves have seen better days like

Did I say I would have a better update today?

THE PROP IS OUT!!!!

Soooo Happy, even though the friction plate was fubar'd. ne-bother i have a spare clutch :D So tomorrow i'm undersealing the transmission tunnel and parts i won't be able to get to once the transmission's in. After that I'll make up the gear linkage brackets - 30 mins work. Then it's all go getting the torque tube onto the bellhousing, clutch onto prop, bellhousing up onto the engine, screw down the pressure plate, add gearbox and diff, add oil, add driveshafts, fit the heatsheild, exhaust and erm... swap the insurance off the corsa :D

See you all in yokshire :D

Mint day today :D

but...wait...How did I get the prop out? Well, went for the DIY slide hammer approach. was going to weld a nut onto the end of the prop, then a length of threaded bar, then another nut and large washer and swing a weight between them, as i was welding the nut on, the prop pretty much fell out  Pilot bearing seems fine just the friction plate that was knackered, centre bit had jut about come out the otherside.

Bell housing's all gloss black now, wheels ready for a squirt of white paint. Think I'm going off the hella grille as i CBA to re-locate the oil cooler. Need a new front x-member as mine is bent from supporting the car on the ARB mounts. Backbox will get some attention soon too.

Roll on tomorrow!

Corsa died 45 mins ago, had to be towed home.

Everything is ready for the volvo now though, gonna start early in the morning, see if i can have it all back together before the insurance place shuts so i can ring and swap it over. Unfortunately my mechanic mate's working tomorrow and the day after but i'm ~sure~ I'll manage lol.

Would upload some photos of what's been going on but will have to wait till tomorrow as i'm buggered and want to start early tomorrow

Need a new front crossmember - one that holds the ARB and goes under the sump. If i could get one at the meet would be amazing!!!!

Cheers,
Matt

so bellhousing is on, with clutch, still got to screw down the pressure plate. obv. torque tube is on, gear linkages are in position ready to be bolted on.
It's been dead hard work - i'm not the strongest of people by any means, lifting a cutch, bellhousing and torque tube whilst wrestling with an exhaust that can't be removed, dodging axle stands, trying to get nuts and bolts in places is rather difficult for me on my own. Not to mention its mud i'm working in and its a tad nippy lol.

took some photos but camera is downstairs and im too tired to go get it - ee i sound dead soft

Gonna swap the insurance tomorrow morning and stick the battery on charge, then crack on and see if i can't have it done mid afternoon

See yous at the meet :)

p.s. Someone find me a x-member

Well putting the gearbox on proved rather difficult today, It's not really a 1 person job even on a solid floored garage. I was working in mud and the jack kept sinking and maneuvering the gearbox was difficult to say the least. I need to get the gearbox/diff on and mounted in order to fit a ratchet in to turn the engine to bolt the clutch down.
I've proper knackered my self today and not really achieved anything

Gonna set an early alarm tomorrow and try my hardest to get the car done, I might just make it for the Saturday night meal at the meet
