Well...

SHES BACK !
Image

Clutch needs adusting and the bodge i did to get the linkages to work needs re-doing as i cant find gears all that easy

But I've been out in it, just 3 miles up the road to where mymate worksat the tandoori. Now with it being just this second fixed, I was being careful, no stupidity what so ever. Fumbling with trying to find second entering a junction and the fact the clutch is a lot higher up than normal meant pulling second gear up at 3.5K and sliding sideways into the *private* road at the side of the tandoori  Completely dry and on a pretty grippy piece of road so am guessing its the LSD :D

Would add more info and pics but am way to tired off the hours I've put in today to get the thing out tonight for a couple of hours.

Best I've felt all holiday, done it all myself and it works :D

Stop been p***y, you are young. not like me near 40!
I drove to Aberdeen and back in 1 day that is over 600 miles, yesterday.
Just try and go side ways and tell me this LSD you got works!
Once you got things adjusted to good level, you have to let me drive it.

When my mate comes back from his holiday, I shall let you know so that we can talk about tie rod modsto go with adjustable bottom suspensions.
Also, you want ITBs as well..... I will be busy then.

Cheers

On the Arduino for the analogue input to test things are working you can just probe the wire around the PCB, for example there are 5v, 3.3 and 0v easily available and labeled. 100%=1024=5v

I've got one now, but no display :) just tried it out with the serial monitor.

For the sensors you will have to do some electronics and calibration.

I'm using the 3.3v and all the 5v pins as it is, things don't seem to like sharing the 5v pins for some reason :/

The temp sensors I'm hoping to use give an output as a decimal in centigrade so that bits easy, the pressure sensor, for example, will be harder as it gives a floating voltage between 0 and 1v

Cheers for the comments, had another blast in it tonight and it is soooo much better, lot less cautious about things braking. Will try get some pics and maybe a video at some point. It needs an ARB like, wierd without one, quite hard to drive when 'having fun'.

Had a bit adjustment of the clutch but i'm getting a whirring noise from the release bearing that we couldn't make dissapear. Seems to happen just at the biting point and higher. Its leaking a load of oil out the diff too so will check that out and see exactly where but i think it's the bearing carrier. The o-ring had a small nick out of it so thinking that might be the problem. I wouldn't have refitted it but i couldn't find a replacement

More work is needed on the linkages, 1st is in a rather dodgy place and 2nd and 4th mean the gear lever hits the handbrake :/

Tomorrows plan is the above and fit the stereo lol. All the interior bar the front half of the centre console is back in now.

Sorry been really really busy.

Cars holding up well, still need to sort gear linkages, exhaust is rattling like there is no tomorrow and lack of Anti-roll bar is making even normal driving quite interesting. You can definately feel the difference with the LSD though, just with the front being so sloppy its hard to confidently boot it into corners. It does draw nice circles :D Should be getting it sorted ASAP though with 25mm ARB (One that came on my GLT was 19mm) Polybushed drop links and new x-member. Also looking into a rear ARB as i now have the spare volvo one and a corsa one :)

Waterpump decided it's lost the will to hold water today so that's another thing to sort, Also need to sort the diff leak, one day

Forgot just how much petrol it drinks :/ still worth every penny.

Will try and get pics and stuff soon

400 miles done and everything is holding up fine, Except the exhaust lol.

Am too tired to go into detail at the mo, will try do a better update soon. Been up to buy some stuff from Liam, Hydro, JDM splitter some bottom arms and a x-member which i've still to pick up :)

Release bearing still makes some weird noise but i can live with it, gearlinkages are held solidly with a million cable ties at the minuite and the exhaust is held on by the downpipe and 1 hangar on the backbox :/

As i say, more details and pics later

Glad you are back up and running with it, just a case of sorting teh niggles now.

I hope teh oil cooler pic was a joke. 1 hedge dweller could result in total loss of oil and a fubared engine woth that location

Aye Thinking of mounting it sort of under the coolant tank in the wheel arch, quite a way forwards from the wheel and get some ducting

Not managed to fix anything really - been proper busy with college, work etc.

443 miles since the whole off road chapter. Loads of stuff knackered. Water pump and radiator leaks, diff leaks, exhaust is ready to fall off any time, Gearlinkages are an embarrasment to even me and my love of cable ties, ARB isn't on yet, interiors only half in, car's still filthy, release bearing is still making a noise, car's soaked inside off the sunroof drain channels being blocked.

So overall it needs a fair bit doing before its nice again. But I've started to get bits and bobs together. Picked up a NOS water pump w/gasket + o-ring from Mattywatsit tonight for a right bargain, Found the good bearing carrier o-ring for the diff to sort the leak, Got a pair of bottom arms from Liam (mine are welded up and the new poly'd drop links for the older style arb can't be fitted without drilling a hole in them, Got a older style arb that's 25mm Diameter. Poly'd droplinks from Dai. Liam's also getting me the x-member the ARB bolts to, Mac's SS bolts to mount ARB to said X-member.
Also off Liam I have a brand new Hydro handbrake and a JDM splitter.

Still sort of thinking of how to do the gear linkages, for the exhaust i'm going to buy a small diameter centre box and mount that in a similar way to stock and my home made back box which is 50% complete will finish off the exhaust side of things. I'll find a radiator either volvo or not and will fit / make fit then that's the leak sorted. Interor parts might get flocked if money appears before i sort the gear linkages out. I can't fit the centre console at the mo because in neutral the lever would be pushing the rear wiper switch out lol.

Some crappy pics because I have nowt better to show yous

Very very nice car mate, been an admirer of it for a while.

Without wanting to sound like a stalker, I see you driving when I'm out and about. Quite a lot on a morning on my way to work.
