fair enough! let me know how it feels.

the s13 mounts share no mounting points at all with the 340. you need to drill the new s13 pcd in the turret, and cut a hole out to allow camber adjustment.

ah, what i meant is would volvo dampers fit the s13 mounts? I've seen your thread and nev and john's cars in the flesh to see how to mount the camber adj. top mounts. I'm sure I've heard of volvo dampers being machined to fit

i think what people meant when they said machined, was that they specified s13 thread instead of 340 thread when getting new inserts. i could be wrong though.

I think I'm running 250lbs on the front and it feels very planted without being horrible. I'd say 250 is the perfect road/track use stiffness. I can actually drive my car fast on A roads (pretty much flat out for 360 standards) despite it being setup for drifting. Damping set just perfectly (just before it gets overdampened) is *Almost* the perfect setup for the front IMO.

hmm now two of you have said 250 i might give them a go, rather have it slightly too soft than too hard as i do like a bit of comfort

I've seen the benefit of having good handling, a mate of mine has a 1.2 corsa b on coilovers and has got it all set perfect and It's very impressive and handling wise puts many 'good' cars to shame. At the moment I'm looking to get the car handling as well as possible, before looking into more power. The LSD really does help with cornering too.

Suppose i'm after something that will handle well but still be able to enjoy a bit of sidewaysness :)

Right, got 3 days off this week, Gonna attack the wheelbearing, gear linkages, and exhaust which is half removed anyway thanks to a speed bump.

Have started paying Atchi off for the diff and have some stuff in the post - coilover kit and rx-7 brakes to be exact :) Those won't happen for a while as i'll still need a pair of springs, the threaded tube welding to the struts and some brakets to mount the rx7 calipers. I already have new wheelbearings for the front and will get some top mount bearings. Eventually i may look into s13 topmounts. All my spare cash now though is going to pay off the LSD off Atchi.

My solution for the gearlinkages is to put it back on the OEM rubber mounts onto the torque tube. I've removed the front bar so the plate would pivot on these mounts, to stop this I'll make some brakets to go from the reverse detent bracket mounting holes onto the transmission tunnel. Simple solution but it means dropping the box and diff down off the mounts again :/

I'm thinking of double leafing the back while I do the wheel bearing too as having the axle off the car will make things a million times easier and my current springs are buckled, probably why it sits so low for 1" blocks.

Money and time to work are both running out very quickly for me at the moment and i really want the car to manage a holiday in the summer. It was going to be a europe road trip but i may have to settle for camping at ben nevis again - which is still good.

There is also a potential engine which i think is still available from someone on here, but requires me to help strip the car down and remove it which I havn't had time to do yet.

Will try get some pics and stuff soon :)

This worries me somewhat, the leaf is what provides your fore/aft location for the axle. If that leaf is buckled, your rear axle isn't straight.

ah, might just be an idea to swap the springs over then, the spares I have are good and GLT ones. The buckled ones could still be used to double leaf though?

The wheel bearing did go from only just making a noise to a stupendous amout of noise and vibration in a very quick time, could this be due to having the axle not aligned because of the buckled spring?

I'll try get a photo of it

Hi Matt,

I have looked at your spare subframe today.
There are few holes and what is large slot used for?

Can I make subframe out of 60x40?

Cheers
Atchi

take it you mean the one 'above' the arm mounting place. It's for mounting to chassis. The hole next to it isn't used i don't think, I'll have a check tomorrow and try get that pic of how my arms sit. I've not measured the subframe yet so not sure on dimensions.
