by accident I saw that pic 2 days ago, but that's too low in the dash, you don't notice it down there.340GLT wrote:You should be able to see somewhere how I had it mounted in mine. It replaced the clock and the ashtray.

Hmmm, I think the original arm is then beter, this kind of looks 'aftermarket'. But it's a good hight, where the screem is very easy to read. There for my idea of putting it in a grid next too the alarm lights switch.kaarel wrote:I fitted mine using a phone holder-http://foorum.volvoclub.ee/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=15

After all the shiny parts today the rust...
First, in marche we made it ready for welding.
the prior owner thought it would be nice to fit in 2 floor matts...
But why?
apparently he did have an armrest, and drilled some holes...
He was also very good in connecting 2 cables...
.. and other electrial stuff
how about putting some heated seat switches into the panel??
so besides the rust also some other problems..
But now the worst parts..:
Sill offside (or how do you guys call the side where the driver doesn't sit?)
floor offside:
and the drivers side is even worse:
So lets start the welding...
Floor offside:
Sill offside:
Some strange looking color on the mounting of the leaf spring:
and another spot:
That's what has been done end of march, begin of april.
All credit for the welding (and comments ) go to my dad!
Next time some more pics, I think this is enough for 1 post

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
Well done to your dad, those pics are definitely an inspiration to get my car fixed. I'm still uncertain about whether to go ahead with it or not. It certainly makes sense to save yours, it being a top-notch saloon ...
Cheers

Hahaha, those bolted together wires and self tapped screwed heated seat switches made me rofl. Do you have a proper spare panel dude? I could always try and dig one out before we come, I imagine they are lots less rare here.

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
nope they're not rare.. atleast, i have 10 or 12 of them in stock so that pretty much means that Mark has got at least 40 of them lying around

Super, saves me having to open the parts store up

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
Thanks for the offer Chris! I'm not as lucky as Anjo, but I think I have 2 or 3 of them with all the switches in as spare
But for my car, I have a panel of a V/S40, with lighted switches for the windows! only need to replace the rear e-window switches by heated seat switches, as I don't have rear e-windows, but will have heated seats
here you see it's the same, if you take the upper part of:

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
Theres an easier way dude The light up switches fit straight into a 300/700/400 switch panel which is identical rather than just close!
400s are also a good source of the light up switches, if you get one with the "auto" label you have an excuse to one touch your windows too

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
All those welding points look very familiar, good job, mine was much worse but I am being anal about it now. I rebuilt all the layered suspension points around the spring mount and crossbeam, all full of compressed rust impossible to remove without depaneling. Make sure you get some rust converter in there and then cavity wax.

Re: Mark´s project: Volvo 360GLE saloon
Interesting pics, I'll be seeing a lot of similar stuff soon I hope it gets done to the same standard as yours, but we won't have a spare shell to cut parts from ...
