Last Sunday, April 15, 2012 was the first race of the Volvo 360 cup at Circuit Zandvoort. It was a tremendously exciting day for me, a new block, new K & N air filter and a bunch of other little things.
During the practice round there were already some great times on my (also newly purchased) laptimer the times were around 2:25 and 2:20. By comparison, last year I drove around the 2:30 per lap.
With a fairly empty tank, I went in the qualification. That was not smart, because the tilting of the 360 made the petrol move to the other side of the tank not allowing petrol to flow to the engine. To make matters worse after 4 laps the car was only on 3 cylinders. After I quickly had gone in I came to the discovery that 1 spark plug wire had come I had this problem fixed quickly and did 1 more lap before I was flagged. I was not happy but afterwards I heard the 13th time with 2:21 , not bad for 4 laps.
Before the first race started, I wanted the problem of holding the engine and spark plug wires loose solve.
The 1st race went a lot better than the qualification! I have a great time and moved up one more spot.
In the 2nd and last race I had a good start. I got along great and have very good race against Melvin . We fought for the 9 and 10th place which was very cool! Up to 3 rounds when suddenly my brakes did not work! I did not drove in the pits so I "calmly" drove on worts . As a result I lost a lot of places
Despite the minor setbacks, I have a great day today in Zandvoort!
