eBay items...
190574781441 - looks very promising, and vaguely local
150658609071 - in Faaaaakin Esssssssix!
230668633529 - I could collect this early next week.

Very tempted to buy a portable one, as my Murex is a bit of a brute for moving...plus it was too bloody expensive for lugging around in a car :( Chip in a few quid and lets get involved :)

EDIT: Really thinking of buying the Cebora if it stays cheap...that's a nice piece of kit.

cheers

I'm trying to talk him out of gasless on account of them being the spawn of satan sm56. What are you upgrading to, out of interest?

they're not all that bad really. I can get pretty neat results now if i try and prepare properly. Thats after about 30 hours total practice over 5 month. Gas is a million times better anyday

I already had a stick welder before that one, can't remember the brand, its old like lol. I picked up a gas/gassless MIG - Cebora '90' maybe at a carboot for £35 with wire :) Still just using it gassless at the mo, till i find an old gas bottle and some way of connecting it up. The cebora seems better somehow so the newer one is up for sale (or a spare seen as i can't seem to shift it lol) Start me Level 2 MIG course next week too :)

That's because Cebora make good stuff. My cousin is a welding inspector (for hardcore stuff), and gave me advice when I started out (knowing it was for car bodywork), to avoid doing what most people do...don't buy a stick welder (although they're great for heavy-duty stuff)...get a MIG, and get a premium-brand one, rather than something from Machine Mart...second hand if needs be: Cebora, Migatronic, Murex, Esab, etc. I managed to pick up a brand new Murex Tradesmig 210 for half the normal price a few years ago (but it was still friiiiickin expensive), and I've been very happy with it. Trouble is, it's huge and really damn heavy, hence the interest in something smaller and lighter. It's not like I need the current capacity, either!

There's a place around here which will sell the bottles, so you're not on a subscription. It's about £45 for the bottle, then £35 for the gas (both plus VAT). Get a CO2/Argon reg, and off you go!

Yeah, i knew from the start i was after a MIG but was given a stick welder for free. Few month later i got the MIG. That's the best thing about the one i'm selling, its dead light an small, has a shoulder strap on in lol. But being gasless is its largest downfall :/

Yeah i've not looked into gas bottles yet with being skint, thats the sort of price i was hoping for so will have a look about. I'm definitely not buying those disposable bottles they sell in places like halfords looks like it would last a minute, maybe two

...and they're not cheap! Just make sure your mate doesn't get confused and turn the regulator up from 7 psi to 7 bar...that finished that cylinder off in a hurry!
