I've just finished cutting the loom out of a 940 for a 360 turbo swap. I'd remove it entirely from the car, and work back from the connectors to remove things you don't need. Given a bit of warning, I can supply pictures of which wires you need left on which connectors. I'm planning to write a guide...

reason ive left it in and running is because im no sparky and am no good with stuff like that so im removeing a bunch of wires and trying it so if somethings wrong its easyer to fix,

yea pics would be great mate, if you do a guide i will have a good read at that

Where are you based? If it's at all local, I'll give you a hand.

There is a LOT to come out. The loom is actually quite skinny when stripped. The best thing to do is identify which wires stay in, cut the rest, and pull out the stray wires. I found it a lot easier to remove it all from the car and work back from the spare plugs (headlights, etc). Do you have a Haynes manual for the 940? That was invaluable. I also have copies of the Volvo wiring diagram for the 940 system, which is much better.

I'll try to press on with the guide ASAP. To be fair, that's going to be more use to you than me babbling on!

Lincoln...so not a million miles away, but not exactly round the corner, either.

I'll get the wiring diagrams off my phone and get them uploaded for you. There's one for the fuel system (LH2.4) and one for the ignition system (EZK).

I'll make you a list of what needs to be left in terms of "ends"...connectors and other devices. The fusebox end in particular ends up being cleaned up significantly. All you need is the white system relay (which also runs the fuel pump). I cut the socket for that out of the fusebox chassis with a hacksaw. The only thing which comes from the rear of car (backwards of the fusebox) is the wiring for the fuel pump, which is a pink (+12v) and black (ground) wire.
All black wires are ground.
Blue wires are switched 12v (ignition).
Red and brown wires are permanent 12v.

You end up with several individual looms which plug together. I'll have to check it again on the car, but there are at least four - Left and Right (from front corner of car to inside cabin), plus two which run sideways - one in the engine bay and one inside the car.

cheers

You probably want to save the gearbox (and front half of prop, and the bracket which supports the gear linkage at the back), as they're a popular upgrade for older 940s and 2/700s. Should net you a few quid back.

I had a couple of hiccups like that too lol.

Mine was all up and running, but I took the car off the road in Novemeber for some upgrades and restoration. I had fuel pressure issues on occasion though, so just another excuse to stop driving it lol. It seemed to be when it dropped below half a tabk. I plumbed in a pressure gauge and it was dropping off to next to nowt! I'm hoping better routing of the fuel lines (less joins) and a swirlp pot/filter will sort things out.

Crack on!
