Saved from the scrapyard, an old friend returns......

Post by T.J. » 15 Nov 2011 05:59 pm

I am still amazed nobody else beat me to this. There is no way this car should have been heading anywhere near the crusher. So my valver was sold and a looong trip around the country was made.

Can you tell what it is yet?

Best appreciated when open.
I probably should have specified ladies legs in there too. [+=] "embarrarrased emoticon"[].com

It's Trundle, that Andy_P converted to a valver then had a few different owners and became the tubby I believe.

Mind you , the last one was unfucking on an epic scale. This isn't bodged, just unfinished.

Edit to mention a bad start to this project..
After leaving for home we stopped at the chippy and to check the straps on the trailer. Then I heard a hissing... Back tyres going down. So we bought some repair foam thinking it'd get us back. Nope, soon after there was a plume of smoke in the rear view mirror and we limped it to the nearest kwik fit. The removed tyre looked like this:
Image

Not the best start lol, anyways 1 new tyre and all fixed again (luckily the rim wasn't damaged)

So, time to get underway I guess :)

Not much in the way of progress atm, mostly due to other projects taking priority. But I now have 3 things I'm not happy with.
They are:
1. The front end - some brain dead chump was left with an intercooler and the words "fit this". When it didn't fit, did they A) call the owner and explain, or B) whip out the angle grinder? Yep, you guessed it
Image
Mind you, I have a plan that will make this look ok ;)

2. The cars too low. I like low, but the wheels have a low offset too so that means taking chunks out of the tyres.
Image
These are 3" lowering blocks. Anyone wanna swap with me for some 2" blocks?
Image

3. This fuel pump was apparently ok for the F7P engine. I don't think it's right for any efi motor, so I'll be replumbing the car for an in tank pump. Anyone wants to buy this pump, shout

Dude.
You threw a black cat through a mirror or summat?
Youve had some bad old luck with 300 purchasing.
Good on you for keeping the faith.

Those tyres scare me.

I would not have the balls to rock something rubbing to that extent.

You just filling that intercooler up with.... a big intercooler dude?

Hi TJ,

Thank you so much for your pm and you have made my weekend knowing that Trundle 2 is going to be saved from a fate worse than death .... :D

I see that you are in Bedford which is not so far away and I hope that I can get to see her when you have finished the car.

I loved that car and she was totally reliable until the bloke that I sold it to wrecked the engine.

I hope the Pioneer speakers are still there, they used to shake the car when I went up to London clubbing ...

:340: :340: Long live Trundle 2

Take care and thanks again

Paula
