Where do I start.................

Front wheel suspension and brake modification.

I wanted to have a wider track on the front axle.De 360 cup cars have a modified subframe but I don't realy fancy that.

My solution....

Image

Image

Image

The brakes on the front come from this car....

Image

Nope....this is not "plug-and-play"....no problem.I designed an adaptor and a machine factory here in our village made them out of aircraft alloy.

The discs needed a little bit of work and than they fitted nicely....

New polybushes and a couple of red koni's complete the job....for now!

Accidentally I ran into this donor....

Image

And it was only interesting because of this....

Image

And all the paperwork of the car came with it.I wanted to build a streetlegal 360turbo so all the paperwork was requierd.

I used the winterperiod to take the engine apart and rebuid it.The Original turbo made place for this one....

Image

Starting the transplant....

Image

Image

Image

As I planned to keep the Original engine mounts of the 360,I had to "lift" the turbo.

Image

Fits perfectly!

3" downpipe....

At first I wanted to use this intercooler....

Image

Turned out it was to big...the hood doesn't close anymore.

So I got this....

Image

used to be in a Renault Master 2.8DTI

Image

Image

Image

BAMMER...........................................the headlights don't fit anymore....

Really interesting hearing that the 360 cup boys modify the subframe, any more info on what they do? I'm interested to compare that with yours, the bump effects must be quite different with longer arms.

Also, it's a bit late now, but Vauxhaul Frontera (did you guys get them in Europe? Opel-y/Vauxhall/GM really shonky 4x4 thing) intercoolers fit with no cutting, I'd imagine the core is a similar size? Although it's not as well in the airflow as yours unless you modify the bumper a bit

Great thread Bart, love the work

Thanx Chris!

We also had the Frontera´s on this of the puddle.....but there where only a few and everyone who had one,was glad to see it go!Finding a used intercooler...or even a new one is a bitch and if you do find one, prices are very high.I contactet a firm that is specialised in used parts and told hom what size I needed and he came up with this .He also had an intercooler of an Iveco but that one is smaller. An intercooler of a big diesel engine should do the job as a diesel pulls in much more air.

To make sure the intercooler would get enough cold air flow I slightly modified the front bumper

Image

I also made this gap bigger. In combination with the front spoiler it should lead more air to the intercooler and the radiator.

Upgrading........

I first ran the car on the Original black injectors....

Image

After been driving around for about 1000 km I decided to install the orange injectors of a 850 T5....

Image

Now....................I've got the white injectors of a V70T5R.But if you put in more fuell you also have to put in more air.And that's a problem because the Original AFM is too much of a restriction. So I got a bigger AFM .This one comes fom a BMW 535i(E34)....
(click on the picture to see the movie)
Image
It has a bigger diameter ....

Image

Only problem is....The Beemer runs on Motronic..so it doesn't work....

If you open both AFM's you can see the resemblance....

Volvo 360(LE-jet)

Image

BMW 535i(Motronic)

Image

So....why not put in all electronics of the Volvo AFM in the Beemer housing....

Image
(I know I already linked to this but it makes the story complete)

With the new sparkplugs cam new wiring.

I got these from a friend of mine.He builds Triumphs for the European Triumph challenge. He pulls up to 195 BHp out of a TriumphT4 engine!

These are silicon double insulated wires with a spiral core

Image

To be able to adjust the ignition in a propper way I installed a Piggyback....
