Another 340 Drift Project

Hi,

my name is Luca i live in Belgium. I'm 24.

I don't speak very well english so forgive my mistakes

I want to buy a 340 to begin in the world of drift. My second car is a Fiat Seicento 900cc ( great little car very cheap to own)

I search after a 3door 340 but in my country it's not easy to find they are only 5 door or a few 5 door sedan, there is a few 3 door but all are variomatic version sm2

I wonder if 5door and 5 door sedan have the same transmission ? is there any différences exept for the body ?

Thanks 340pw

The body makes no difference to the gearbox :) they all had variomatic or manual no matter how many doors although I have never seen a 4 door vario.

The 1.7 340s are all manual

The vario gearbox uses a different propshaft to the manual and they snap easily if the engine mounts have sagged causing the prop to misalign.

I'm not too sure what is involved in swapping to manual but I know it will be a lot of work.

Thanks for your answer :D

Here's two 4door vario:

http://www.2ememain.be/autos/volvo/340/ ... 54532.html

I find on the forum that swapping CVT to manual is pretty hard so i forget it.

For the moment i have these two option ( 5door both  )

or this 4door

But it's a 1,7. I think the 1,4 is cheaper to own ( maintenance , taxes )

4 door are heavier too ???

(i like 360 too but they are rare and overpriced :( )

I have also never seen a 4 door 1.4 either.

Seems a bit expensive for drifting to me, but then I don't want to do drifting :)

Less 360s where made but the engines do last indefinately.

I havn't done the auto to manual conversion, but does not sound that hard to me.

Do you not get rusty, bashed up cars in Belgium?

Nor have I, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did them down here. :D
