Project Restore and Modify

Morning all,

Thought I best start a build thread as this is my first Volvo, my first RWD car and my first decent project which isn't full of rot, rust and generally a one way street to a scrappy.

So i first picked the car up about 3 months ago. 35,000 miles and completely bog standard.

Since then, i haven't really worked on anything majorly noticeable. The car has had a clutch change, a general service and a very good polish and clean.

The car was also used in the trailer for a film. The guys are hoping to get funding for a full feature length film, so hopefully my little Volvo will have played a part in this. You may recognise the two actors.

Unfortunately the car got damaged whilst on the lowloader, nothing serious, but annoying nonetheless. However they have already paid for the damage to be repaired and it is also on the side where a nasty key mark has been scratched in and some flaking on the arch is, so its given me the excuse to have the whole side resprayed.

I'll update once this has happened and once wheels and lows have turned up. excited to make this car handle less like a barge and more like a car.

Dan

John Bradley-West is driving and is that Seann Walsh in the back? I though it might be Kit Harrington but i doubt the Nights Watch have a fleet of volvos to take on the white walkers

Keep us posted, she looks like a good'un

I thinks it is a much younger, less good-looking and slightly over-weight Anthony Hopkins...

... well, it was quite a good film, apart from the fact that it was directed by a (*yawn*) Attenborough!!

The 340 looks great, will they use it in the film if it gets made?

So the Volvo has been resprayed :D

Its not much of an update, but thought you'd like to see the progress none the less

You'll have to click the photos to see full size, as they are quite large

Stripped down

All dents and horrible bits filled and flatted

Primer

Base coat

Lacquer

Finished

Still needs a bit more flatting and polishing, but waiting for the paint to harden a little more

Also thinking of leaving the side strips of as i think it looks a lot cleaner. Thoughts?

I also now need a set on front arch badges as mine didnt come off so easy. Does anyone know where i can get some?

Thanks

Dan

I'd definitely put the strips back on... they look slab sided without them, and I'd want to protect that new paint!
