Visionary.
Ive always fancied banded Rostyles with big deep trim rings on a 300.
I approve.
But then, Im a fucktard.

Chris's is a home-brew Mark. Did you miss all the pictures on page 35 of this thread?MCHUDD wrote:As for the tach, sorry Chris. Didn't know the VDO one went up to 8000.
Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
heh heh, I fail. I just didn't look back enough. I like the 8k Rpm dial, might hit up a scrappy myself and do the same thing. Would be nice to see the revs again. Does it need to be properly calibrated then, or can I just fit it and go? (I realise more accurate is better, but my understanding and patience for electronics is miles off what you have Chris! )

Btw Chris, never realised you had and accident in it! I'm bloody slow sometimes!
To add to the wheels, I have mixed feelings. I'm not a fan myself. Leos would definitely work well though.

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
It needs to be calibrated mate. If you want to have a go at the dials though...
The dials weren't that easy tbh, ended up doing a fair amount of maths to work out where the marks should be as the formula is an mx+c with the pin and 0 not being in the right place, if I can get the green right and red less bright I'll be super happy though.
I'm happy to calibrate one up for you, but I'm damn low on rev counters atm. I was surprised how far out my spare was, but that could be lots of things.
EDIT: As to the wheels, I wasn't going to admit it but they arn't staying no matter what I think They are on long term loan from a good friend until I find something I'm happy with.

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Ah fair play. If you're up for doing the calibration though, I'd gladly chuck you a few beer tokens for your trouble! Might be a job for this week then, find a 400 series. Need to get a rev counter dash too. They in any 400 series, or just a specific one?
Any ideas as to wheels then?

Re: Fake - F7R Motorsport Daily
Well, I had set a date in the calender 6 weeks from her first drive. If I hadn't had a fun drive, one that made me smile in that time, Fake was going up for sale and I was going to buy an MX5. I've stuck fairly hard to this rule, it wasn't something I'd mentioned to many others but I hadn't had enough fun for money and effort the thing has been taking.Chris_C wrote:It's likely I will rebuild a valver, however I havn't worked out if this will be for myself or for recouping some costs. I just havn't driven the car enough in the last 14months to remember why I enjoy it and infront of that it hasn't been right for much longer. The wheels, suspension etc make it significantly more grippy and faster than a stock 300, but it doesn't handle like I want it to, nor how a stock car does. Whilst the F7R is an awesome engine I'm just not sure it's suited to the 300, at least the level to which I will drive the car and the reliability I insist from it. Tbh, I just need to think it through, but even if Fake does come back, there will be some fairly major changes.
I'll put an initial idea of my wheels are likely up for sale. You all know what they look like, most preference will go to someone able to swap for Leo's along with something else, either pound notes or shiney things. How much soley depends on the condition of the Leo's. I have 8 in total, one has a fairly epic bend however so it would be wrong for me to sell two sets.
So, I sold my wheels to Speedy. On the one hand, I know the car will likely never look as good as it did. All new rear end suspension was fitted during the rebuild, Classicswede dampers replacing the Spax I had. First proper drive today (First actual drive was to the VIC). Wheels are 13's, with a 165/75 on.
I smiled. Actually, that's wrong. I've been smiling since I started driving it at 3pm. I stopped 200 miles later at 10pm. The difference in the handling on the smaller wheels is stunning. With my 15x7's, with such a low sidewall, stretched slightly, there was no compliance. The difference in handling is night and day, you can just play with it again. I imagine it's slower on rally's but tbh, I've won what I set out to win rallying. I just want to enjoy driving now.
ClassicSwede dampers compared to the Spax? Well, it's likely an unfair test, the Spax had... 60,000miles on them. The range on the ClassicSwede is much larger, at the bottom end they are way to soft (on GLT springs, dangerously soft in my mind, the rear of the car just bounces all over the place and wanders by itself on manholes etc) But, I stopped and gave 11 clicks on both sides and it was transformed. There is still tweaking to be done, but it's tight enough whilst remaining compliant. I'll give this some more testing.
Geometry is good, the front end feels different with the larger sidewall, I think there is a happy medium to be found here, the larger sidewall has introduced a small amount of indirectness, with the fully poly'd front end I run it used to be amazingly tight and it's just lost that edge. I've a feeling I might be going through tyre sizes a bit.
I've just driven for 7 hours in a car with very tight fitting metal winged recliners. But, I've enjoyed it so much I'm just picking the keys up again. Ttfn.
BTW, I think I might not sell it.

Out of interest, when you fit Dai's rear adjustables did you also fit that rubber and washer combo that comes with them? I couldn't get mine to fit!
