minted mate, looks similar to our events here on arran, but we use car parks and for hill climbs tarmac single tracks and they very steep, think i might need low box fitted to 360 ha ha

New I'd forgotton something!!!! Fit this into the previous lot, it was Oct 25th!!!
Me, 3 months ago wrote:Had her out yesterday out Southsea MC's autosolo, great fun day :D I'd spent a bit of time 10 days ago sorting out vacuum leaks in the engine bay, finding 8 (yes... eight) no wonder she was having issues idling.

So, headed off to the big car park. Had a great time, though for the first time I found I was limited by the 300s steering (4.5turns lock to lock, and heavy with the 195's on 7" rims) I'd sprained my right arm during the week, and couldn't get the lock on quick enough. I had plenty more grip (the Bridgestones are amazing, and have been great on rallies) and more power, but I couldn't put the speed on due to knowing I couldn't turn the corner. Quick rack (possibly PAS, though I hate it with a passion) seems on the cards. I've also realised since I've been running these bridgestones how much I've not enjoyed driving. I'm used to having a car with great weight distribution I can chuck about, and slide a bit. The bridgestones grip too much, and it was only driving a friends MG Midget last week that made me realise. Still, for competition they are amazing, and it seems you can either have doing well or fun :D

Results wise, I didn't do great, 13th I think out of 18 (can't remember now!) but then again most of the rest of the cars were stage or enduro rally prepped! She still took us to above an MX-5 and the Evo that drove off the course!

Thats the main reason ive decided against 15's, is the fact that the car wouldnt be as fun with big wheels where as with little wheels its fun, lets you know your limits.

Great news on the events chris good to see your having fun and that fake is holding together.

They say that about Nobles, they'd be more entertaining on skinnier treads, but most people would crash them
looks like you're having a right laugh Chris, this reminds me I must look into some hillclimbs.

You should all get involved, it's really not expensive at this level. Don't get my wrong on the tyres, the handling is a lot better with the 15's, loads less sidewall flex, and with the good makes braking is superb. The thing I miss is being able to throw it into a corner doing about 5mph, and the front edging out, then a bit of boot and the back coming round. That happens now, but at speeds that I wouldn't want to drive on the road at.

A mate of mine is currently looking for an Austin 7 for this reason, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been looking at midgets. We'll see. Both cars you can have loads of fun at well below 30.

I quite fancy modified production <1400cc, but it'd be hard to be competitive with the minis and 205s. Be a lot easier if there were more tuning parts for the b14, it really loves being thrashed.

That's true, everyone else in the class would be wrong wheel drive. Maybe there's an ideal class for the renault 1.8 engines, wouldn't want to go 2litre, then you'd be getting wiped out by C20XE corsas, and I couldn't face that.

Shudder.
Thatd probly make your 300 weep dude.
Like that scene in Herbie Goes Bananas when Herbie goes all sad because hes not allowed any more bananas or something.
But you have to imagine the emotive personifacation of an 300 in your head man, cos that Herbie films unrealistic and misleading when it comes to documenting the true abillities of inanimate motor vehicles.
They dont actually do any of that nonsense.

Oops, spamming again.
Sorry lads, it just spills out.

Don't be so sure... Most of the stuff I do atm is 1.6 < 2.0. So... for example, *if* there was an F7R somewhere, it'd put Fake in exactly the same class as she is now.

With twice the power to weight.

When she doesn't do bad in the results already.

I like the sound of that. Some of the small FWD stuff is frighteneningly quick, I was thinking of rallycross before, but the entry costs put me off in the end, as well as the 260hp corsas.

Would be quite cool to sort something like this out as a v3m meet and just have fun get people to have a go and see how they like it.
