The front brakes started making some strange grinding noises, then i remebered that it has been a while since i have checked the pads and discs. Low and behold the pads a shot :) so i had orded some new discs and some Mintex 1144 pads, expensive pads but worth it. (i have used them on my 205 GTI) Im looking forward to trying them out in the volvo.

Pretty sure my black 360 had these pads too... and that car had the best brakes of any 300 I've had.

I'm having my discs replaced next pad change because they are lipped. I'd love to give these a go. My 300's brakes saved my life twice tonight :D

Woop! When was the last time your saw this logo on a Mintex box?! but they are the correct pads which is the important bit :)
Image

Judging by the dates on the box the 340 was still in production when these were made! some where between '82 and '91
Image

And done :) just got to bed them in.
Image

Despite what the pads looked like the discs had very little wear on them, either the pads are choclate or the discs are Carbo-tanium ;)

Thatle be knacked then  no wounder they were grinding.

Propshaft came off on Wednesday, but it is not clear why. so that ment another trip on the big orange flatbeds with the flashing lights :)

The tyres on my skinny VAG steelies were starting to look a bit munched and would not get me through another MOT. so i went to my local tyre place to get some tyres that i had in the back of my garage fitted. whilst i was there he said that he had some New old stock tyres in the same size as the ones i took to have fitted. He then went on to say that i could have these new tyres fitted and balanced for a total cost of £60! nothing special but its 4 new tyres for £60!

You have all seen these wheels before but now with extra rubber.

TrackDay!
EvilRacer329 and myself were booked on a Renault Sport (Was quite amusing to rock up with at least have a clio engine)track day @ Llandow circuit.
Didn't get to many pictures. due to me driving and the weather.

It started out dry.

EvilRacer's Family Wagon  and the mean machine ready for the track

Then there was RAIN! and lots of it.
Image

And my favourite picture of the day.
Image

Only problem for us was my exhaust braking during the first session then having to put up with the noise for the rest of the day. Other than it was all good!.

For the rest of the pictures and Hires ones of the ones above they can all been seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/woomotorsp ... 584077941/

I also tested out these £15 video cameras.
Image

But unfortunately I was able to mount it to the front valance like I had planed, due to the water on track. So it had to go inside the car. Positioning FAIL! sounds good tho till my exhaust broke.

But they can do good footage when the operator doesnt fail at the setup :)
