Would thicker oil help too? My mate used fully synthetic in his twin cam and it tapped it's tits off! Just a thought, but you've got it covered!

after changing the tappets and the oil/filter its much quieter! used it for the 44 mile round trip to work and back today and its all good!.

The extra torque compared to the F7P is excellent, Made for an interesting drive down the lanes this morning in the Heavy rain on standard 155/80/13 steelies! 3rd Gear Wheelspind FTW

Well after many almost trouble free miles and no changes to the car i though it was about time i found out what the engine was actually doing. so i got booked into a local rolling road day and here are the results. Not bad for an engine i purchased from a scrapyard that tought it was standard. :)

Nice result! Any idea why the power/torque varies so much from run to run? The temperature doesn't change much so I wouldnt've thought it would affect it by that much?

Only thing i can think of is the temp under the bonnet, the runs were done one after another. so its going to get very hot under there.

Can't argue with those numbers. Top result! sm4

The only thing I'd say is that you appear to have a slight hole in the torque curve around 4k. You look to be losing 5-10 lbft. I'd be interested to see what a wideband says is going on there, but I'll put a couple of quid on it being a bit rich just there. Not exactly a big deal, though. If you saw my 343's curve...you'd see I can hardly talk!

Crikey, you must be really near the race team my mate works for. They've got a warehouse full of various interesting race cars...single seaters, touring cars, etc.

cheers

Retro Rides was Awsome!
The car got there, run the sprint (Came 12th In Class) and drove home without any issues whatsoever! fantastic!. Did its usual 25mpg but it was worth it.

Oh and as some of you will have seen i finaly got rid of the matt blue paint on the bonnet.
Satin Black FTW.
