Posty came with a presant today, Remote Oil Filter kit
Image

This will hopefully help me tidy up the gauge senders and stop my arm getting covered in oil when i change the filter :)

Also purchased some parts for the F7R ready for the next few days of stripdown check and fitting into the car,
New Cam Belt
Some Gasketgunk for the sump
Engine DeGunking stuff
Ordered Spigot Bearing for the crank,
and some VHT Paint.

Busy Day!,

Cleaned the block and gave it a nice coat of red, Came out a little lighter than i was expecting, but the point of paint the block a lighter colour was to spot leaks easily so its win-win :)

Also fitted new cambelt, and Checked the big end bearings, all of which are in excellent condition.

Do cranks on these normaly look like this? (never noticed it before)

Apparently not, a lot of factory engines look like this.

Renault redblock?! Heresy...

Those are probably factory balancing marks. With parting marks that wide, it appears the crank may be forged.

cheers

Well the williams lump is up and running!

had no issues with the Willy ECU. Just little things to finish up and fix now, got a slight oil leak from one of the joins on the remote filter housing. And just some more idle time to get the tappets settled down. sounds like tractor at the mo

Well get some pics tommorow!

Found this one :)

:D It looks the same as the old engine :) just with a magic letter on the end of the F7.

My Remote Filter

Unfortunatley it is increasingly likley that the engine needs a set of tappets and annoyingly i only did this job 2 weeks ago on my other engine before it when pop!
It may be related but im not convinced its running quite right. more investigation needed.

Should be quicker still once i have the tappets sorted, just been and started it again, it just sounds nasty :(
So im going to take my new tappets out of the engine that spun a bearing as they were only 2 weeks old and fit them.

It was a pleasure meeting you garth, its alway good to speak to like minded people!

hopefully this should sort it.
It was running 10w40 semi-synthetic but now its just going to be used to flush, when im done with the fitting my other tappets its going to be run for 10 minutes then changed oil and filter again
