Fuse's 360GLT

Post by Fuse » 16 May 2008 06:33 pm

I've added so many random update topics about the stuff I've done so I think I might start to put updates in here.. This is not a proper project topic beacuse usually I don't get anything done very quickly. :D I might compile the older stuff in here at some point. I think everyone knows the car but if someone doesn't it's an -87 360GLT Turbo (B200E+T) Here are all the random pics http://www.elisanet.fi/mtn/images/autot/GLT/

I bought some new fueling stuff for the car

Image

When connected together those should look something like this

Image

Now I just have to get those in the car at some point..

Been busy @ work.. Not much happened. I bought a K-Jetronic fuel pump also which I'm going to fit so I haven't fitted the fuel lines yet because I haven't had time to pick up the K-Jet pump..

Today I made a heat shield for turbo so washer tank won't melt.. Until now I've had a piece of scrap metal in place as a temporary fix. It worked but was a bodgery solution so I made a nicer one. :P

Two pieces and between there's also a glass fibre cloth to reduce the heat exchange between plates. :P

Well from pump it goes like

pump - fuel filter (small pot) - fuel rail - FSE pressure regulator - return to tank

So it's same as the stock system, but the pressure regulator is connected via hose to the rail :P

Nice work, what manifold is that? Looks like it brings the turbo up quite high.

Thanks! :P It's a stock turbo manifold, setup is same as in our ex-GL, there's an adapter which brings the turbo higher. Not the best flowing setup but it works.. ;)

Like that. That pic is from a 360 turbo from Sweden though. :P

Tubular manifold would be nice but it's not the first part in the "to-do" list.

Ah I see, thought that might be the case - that manifold brings the turbo verrrryyy close to the engine mounting when using a 13c. Probably the best idea if you don't want a new manifold!

Maybe. I was wondering how it'll hold but it's an industrial spec gauge so it shouldn't cause any problems (leaks etc... :P)

New parts. :D

Now I'll just have to find someone who will paint those for a fair price.. ;)

Do you think they put enough stickers with the springs...

MOT time. I had to change the damper at the steering shaft. One small crack. Otherwise everything was ok. :)

Fueling stuff is going in after I get the car through MOT at next wednesday.. Also new front beam, sway bar links and engine mounts and Spax springs are going in place. 8)

Now the car is through MOT. :P

Spax springs are also in place. What a difference! Ride height is good, not too low to screw up the suspension travel but it doesn't look like a boat anymore either.. BMuch less bodyroll also Very good combination with Koni dampers. :P

Fueling stuff is going in at sunday.

I have to take some new pics after I get the car waxed..

I was about to change oil&filter yesterday but when I took the filter out and tried to fit the new one in it didn't fit. :D

It was from the same manufacturer as the previous one but it was like 5mm taller so it hit the engine mount. I went through few parts shops but couldn't find anything with lower height so today I bought a relocation kit. :)

Now I can use Volvo Original and Mann filters. Those have been too tall before. And also I don't need acrobat skills to change the filter anymore..

Few pics. The filter plate isn't bolted to the bracket yet but I started the car and there was oil pressure and no leaks.

I bought those hoses from hydraulic shop nearby. Seems to be rated 160bar.. I think it's enough. :D

New fuel hoses and Bosch 909 fuel pump are in place. I didn't change the FPR and the fuel rail yet as I didn't have time to adjust.. I'll be visiting our summerhouse at next week so I don't put those in place before the trip.

Old LE-Jet pump seemed to have been in quite bad shape as it made rattling noice which is gone now with the new pump and also with the 909 pump boost goes quicker up and there's no "step" or still point at 0-bar where there previously was a dead spot before the boost started to rise.

Old downpipe flex joint piece was rusted badly so it was replaced with 45-degree angle piece and one general flex joint piece.
