Re: Astral Tweeks
Since my last post i have done nothing to improve the look, the handling, or the performance of my 340, i have been driving it to work daily, and apart from the solenoid and starter being reconditioned it has been running really well!, everyday!, and been great fun drifting like a bi - atch in the snow and ice.. god bless global warming!.
Today after jump starting my 340 later started squueeling like bansheee, and i drove it a very short distance, borrowed a torch and i found that the plastic guard had caught this alternator adjuster!. The fan belt was making said extremely loud squueel cos it was obviously loose.
I think i have lost the nut from the top of the adjuster, possibly during the short distance i drove the car,
hopefully i havent lost any other parts, but it should be an ok easy fix...(famous last words)
I'm getting a new digital camera nex week, Wooop! Wooop! so stay tuned for more pics of me arsing around in me volvotron!...
Running a 22 year old car isnt without its problems admittedly, but i can never part with my 340.
NO SURRENDER!!! VOLVO 340 4 LIFE!!!

Re: Astral Tweeks
I got a new camera!, wa - hey!
Ive come to realise after the amount of effort and hard - earned that went into my 340 over the past year just how much i rely on my car for work, reliability and punctuality being 85% of my work, and recently it has been excellent, i almost feel i have turned a corner with my 340 (no pun intended) in making my 340 a reliable good roadworthy car, with rwd goodness, my foot slipped off the clutch honestly officer
i was smoking when i took this pic, it's not the ghost of auld cars past memories of £170 mk 5 cortina purchased in inner east london with vinyl roof hmm, loved that car some time ago now
that silver merc bus is my bus! (or vey similar), i sometimes drive that grey cimo just in the side of pic. Those mirrors are a bit offputting, could always be useful to whack a pedestrian prius owner (accidentally of course)
i realised i had no pics in my whole thread of the heart that powers this red beast, so here it is in all its glorious 8 valves..
spare wheel's are 4 feg's , actually its bin relocated to the boot space 4 now
radiator expansion tank lid, thanks to helldriver
This is prob the best pic i have so far, note VND's V3m stickerz on rear quarters
These wheels from MCHUDD have been excellent and really suit the car IMO, so i plan to shod them with new rubber 2 morrow .
Not really an update as such as i haven't done much, but anyone at all please feel free to leave a comment.

Re: Astral Tweeks
The time had arrived once again to M.O.T. my 340
She failed on corroded brake lines and a twisted brake hose on the front caliper.
M.O.T. test = £30.50
M.O.T. retest = £18.50
Paid a local mechanic to replace the brake lines (mainly because i dont have the tools) = £60
2 tyres = £60
Wipers = £13
6 Month Road Tax = £112.50
total spend to keep my 340 on the road = £234.50
passed M.O.T.
soon after the M.O.T. i started getting paranoid about the carb base manifold thing, the one that everyone on this forum say's warping of the 1.7 carb is common, therefore letting air in and causing running issues. So i decided to investigate!
this is the carb currently running on my 340, i dont know if you can tell from my pic but it seems to be "Mildly Moist" around the base of the carb!
does this mean it could be on its way out?, Anyone with more knowledge than me feel free to leave a comment, or indeed anyone with similar experience of this!. I feel i may be being a little over cautious and it is running fine ATM and i dont want to start messing with something that works ok already.
however as luck would have it (for once) by a million to one odds!. I have a spare 1.7 carb!. I wouldnt care to say how many of these there is in norn iron or my chances of getting another!. Could anyone tell me is it the piece of what looks like black rubber or plastic block between the manifold and carb which is the part that everyone says warping is common on 1.7's? best seen in 2nd pic down here, right in centre of pic!
and just to finish off some more pics (cos everyone loves pics ). Checkout the Delorean time machine manufactured in Dunmurry on the outskirts of West Belfast (factory still stands) circa 1981
As always anyone and everyone on the forum please feel free to leave a comment good or bad, smart or simple. constructive criticism always welcome

Hi Dub.
Car is looking well as usual. Now and again you see a Delorean on the road
but as you say, most of them went to America.
Cheers Mark.

Nice pics, nice wheels! They suit your car right down to the ground.
I forgot the DeLorean was made in Belfast One of my dream cars ... Is there a strong DL scene in Northern Ireland then - a bit like the V300 in Holland ?

Re: Astral Tweeks
There is one in permanent residence at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum i'll get a photo of next time i go there Tom, it is cool looking got to admit.
I got to look around Peter Lavery's Delorean once at Belfast City Hall who was like me a bus driver here who won £10 million on the lottery!
He told me his had a 2.8 injection Ford engine, i think his is one of the 25 RHD models built. Everyones gotta love the shape of the Delorean a car way ahead of its time.
thanks for all the comments!.
EDIT: Co - Incidentally i was driving my bus along the Bangor dual carriageway today 27/5/11 and i saw a convoy of deloreans en route to 30 year delorean anniversay do this weekend in Belfast. The factory and test track are open to public - i quickly grabbed my fone and took these pictures lol
Check out that black beast 3 in front there
Rear window Louvre
