Re: Clio 16v *I gone and blowed it up*

Post by filthyjohn » 27 Apr 2009 01:39 am

Well mine's fitted and kicking ass again. Took longer than expected as removing the exhaust manifold was a massive pain. And also because this engine's from a 19 as opposed to a clio, I had to route the hoses all over again. It feels a tiny bit slower than the old one, does anyone know if there's a difference in power between the two?

Here's a taster from last weekend's photoshoot:

Unless the 19 engine is slightly tired compared to the old one no, there is a small diff on powwr but that due to engine management and so wont affect you.

Cheers Ad, gonna get it on some rollers to cure the hesitation below 3k rpm. It does go pretty well, but it needs a tune. I'd like a dyno graph too, to see exactly where it's good or bad.

Looks like a shot on a tripod with a 'sucker' base attached to the car somewhere? Great shot though, where's the rest of 'em John! :)

Yeah it's lean down low, so I'll try enriching the idle mixture, then possibly bigger idle jets. it revs up fine if you gently nudge the throttle (the accelerator pump adding a bit of juice).

It was a camera on a long stick attached to the rear screen with big sucker things. They've all been shopped out though, I didn't even realise until my mate told me. The rest of the snaps are on a DVD, I'll be getting them this week and I'll chuck them up on here.

It's claimed a few scalps already, you need a ride in it soon!

It isn't ATM, my mate just took some shots to see how it came out, and for a bit of practice. He said he could probably get it into a mag, but I don't think it's really worthy TBH. After all, PPC have already featured Adam and Bennet's valvos, Ali's 360+T, and Joni's white monster.

I'll have a word with my mate, we might at least be able to get a rolling road grouptest or something. How many of us have valvos now? There are at least ten on the roads I'm sure.

Oh and I sorted my idle mixture today, enriched it a bit and it's now much more driveable at low revs. This is because the idle jets control the first 20-30% of throttle opening. It's vital I get some low-rev flexibility so I can drive around making a bit less noise.
