Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion

for those who don't yet know me, I'm Anjo, 21years old. currently a member of the TC in the dutch V3C and offcourse, I'm from the Netherlands. thought let's give the V3M an update on how my project car is coming along, since building stage is allmost a fact. the car is my second 340 and the first one is still in my posession.

quick briefing on the car:
1986 340 1.4 cvt 3dr 65000km color 218.5 arctic blue metallic, driven by a real granny and i'm the second owner.
factory extra's: headlight wipers, special striping, painted petrol cover.

the cvt has allready been changed into a manual 5 speed, cost me a days work sm4

and now the modifications/to do list for parts that are allready in stock:

interior:
- full leather interior incl rear head rests
- from stock smith clockset to a full vdo GLT clock set
- sports steering wheel
-- still have to buy a set of sparco chrono road seats with 5point harness

- original 218.5 painted bumpers
- front glt spoiler
- rear glt spoiler
- black glt grille
- original duvedec 10spoke 15 inch rims (completely unique set of rims!)
-- strip exterior of striping, volvo badges etc.

undercarriage:
- full superflex front polybushed suspension
- intraxx lowering springs
- koni red dampers front
- koni yellow dampers rear
- double leaf suspension rear
- BRANDNEW! m47r transmission with a welded diff
- sachs paddle clutch
-- still to do, uprated propshaft

engine:
B14.4E Turbo!
a completely stock b14, fully rebuild with brandnew Renault 5GTT parts currently produces about 140bhp on standard pressure. after running this setup 800 miles the boost will be increased and a completely refurbished carb with bigger jets will be placed, should be good for between 180 and 200 bhp.
so far, testdriving etc it has done about 15 miles. the last couple of weeks i have been busy with the looks of the engine.

enough chat, a few pics!

what i started with:
Image

powder coated a lot of parts (more than there is on this table  )
Image

painting engine:

and clutchhousing

result:

testfitting:

dressing the engine with brandnew bolts, gaskets, etc..

and the pic i like the best:

engine is allmost ready for the car, just needs a few more parts. harness will be completely rebuild and equiped with an omex rev limiter + launch control unit.

next item on the manufacturing list will be cooling, a brandnew radiator is allready in stock as is this intercooler:
Image

I also have a set of 2 10 inch electric "turbo" fans and an oil cooler, sandwich plate is allready in place as you can see on the pics above.

the plan is to put the car in a shed "grandpa style" and make it come out of the shed as a brutal monster:lol:

this engine will be good for about 1,5 years, because i'm gonna rebuild another B14, with a crossflow head (renault 5 alpine turbo), run it with a T3 turbo and custom injection system. know r5gtt's from france produce about 350bhp with this setup, i'm happy with anything between 250 and 300 since endurance and durability is important to me aswell.

i also have a 7000watt full Kicker audio system waiting for the car aswell, will be build in the car after above modifications have been made. 2 10 inch woofers, 4 12 inch woofers, 5 amps and a lot of speakers! system is loud!!!

at half june the car will be brought to the shed, the drive-lane is a big sandy desert at the moment, still waiting for some bricks etc.

you probably can't read dutch but there are a lot of pics in my thread at the dutch Volvo300Club http://forum.volvo300club.nl/showthread.php?t=4503

I'll keep you updated.

Looking good dude, Can the stock b14 internals handle boost then? or is the block from a 5turbo aswell?

underblock is exactly the same, had to swap pistons+shafts, cylinder head and camshaft. this was the engine from Frits Hendrickx in his 340L, he allready refurbished the internals with all new parts before he sold it to me. I just re-swapped them into a b14:D

it was a lot of work indeed, but still lots more work to come.

What a lot of work! Well done, and well documented too (just flicked through your V3C thread).

Yellow konis, stuff of legends :-)
- original duvedec 10spoke 15 inch rims (completely unique set of rims!)
What's the story on those? I remember there being a 300 with a duvedec bodykit on Marktplaats for ages and ages ...

as you read my thread, you allready saw the rims somewhere:) as i got the rims now. Duvedec, as was the bodykit advertised on marktplaats made/rebuild a handful of cars with that bodykit, and equipped them with the rims that i've got. it appears to be that my rims are the only set still around...

Maybe I'll go back and have a closer look then, I didn't notice them the first time round ...

All I found on Duvedec a few months ago was that Marktplaats car and the website of a bus and tram manufacturer. Interesting that they did stuff for the 300-series too, back in the eighties ...

the pics of the car at marktplaats was an original 360 glt duvedec, but not with the rims duvedec equippedit with. the twotone paintjob + red pinstripe was a duvedec item aswell:)
