haha geniaal :P

it still goes!!! not breaking too much atm, went through MOT late december with no advisories/imperfections; did exactly 2000km last year  there's a lot coming up when i get some other projects finished here; doing V300 stainless steel strut braces atm and helping my dad out with some very nice projects; when all that is as good as done i'm back on this again; lot of changes coming up, suspension, interior, exterior, engine etc etc etc

so today we had our annual little dutch volvo time-attack event on a gokart circuit; the Elandrun. car did well except for a problem with the fuel pump, after one lap i decided it was best not to complete more laps with the potential risk of melting pistons/bending pushrods etc. especially since the whole fuel system will be replaced this year.

soon i'll be back on this again, just have to sell the daily 340 and get the powdercoated rear axle under the 343 and do some minor work on that. much to come on this!

and like this page to keep in touch/pics, vids etc.! :P https://www.facebook.com/pages/340Turbo/300518140015288

well, i thought i'd give a heads up on a weeks work ;) i finally got my head around what i want so last few months i've started gathering parts and drawing out my ideas.

firstoff i'll start with the interior, this will be completely manufactured out of 1mm Aluminium sheetmetal, completed with a few Stainless Steel details. minimalistic and functional. the Aluminium will get a textured powdercoating later on, first a template out of cardboard
Image

next the prototype out of a large sheet (3000x1500x1mm)
Image
Image

modifying, fitting, trimming, modelling and finaly laying out the pattern to the new sheet
Image

handbended the large curve and hammered the others
Image
Image
Image

drilled a few holes wrong, even after carefull measuring; the parabolic curves fooled me now and then :p the wrong holes were closed with the TIG welder and grinded down flat
Image
Image

done!
Image

on with the doorcards.. again starting with a prototype of wich i used a original doorcard for the rough contours
Image

solving the height difference around the unlocker
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

then the final doorcard, here are some pics of the handbending/forming and offcourse, a bit of work with the hammer :)
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

just opening the door from the inside isn't enough, so made a stainless steel armrest/handle
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

the ABS window pendle won't last offcourse, on with the stainless steel
Image
Image
Image

all components completed so in the dishwasher, this makes the surface clean for the TIG welding
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

the complete picture for now :)
Image

next step is the dashboard, i've jet to receive a badge of stainless profile and other stuff wich should arrive at the end of the week. in the meantime it's time for a little holiday

That handle and winder are genius.

Not sure about the door card yet though. Will you not get a lot of sun-glare in the interior dude?

think it says he is going to powder coat it :) dont know if it would help against sun-glare though

i can only say, wait till everything's done and coated. the interior/doorcards shape; i'm going for minimalistic and functional on those, really happy with them; espescially with the complete picture already in my head :P
tomorrow i can start on the dashboard, as i overstretched a thigh muscle at soccer practice yesterday it looks like i won't be game fit for the next few weeks :( good for the Volvo though, now i have a bit more time to spend on it :)

so before i can get all the aluminium coated i need to have the dashboard finished and before i can start on that the front part of the rollcage has to be in.. so started bending the stainless steel tube with a conventional pipe bender and after trying all the tricks in the book (except for heating but this isn't an option for stainless steel as it weakens the bend and isn't precise anymore) i still couldn't manage to bend without the tube flattening out and damaging...
Image

so i ordered CNC milled moulds for a rotary bender and built the rest myself using the hydraulic cilinder off the old bender.
Image
Image

after a short bit of tweaking it worked perfectly
Image

so this afternoon i was anxious for starting with the rollcage, main hoop is bended
Image

tomorrow a trophy soccer match and maybe more after that this weekend :)
