Re: Anjo's Project Car: 1986 340GT Special, B14Turbo
update time rear cage is very near to completion, i've put most of the interior back in and got the dash back in (don't ask how hahaha)
i'll start the new dash of alloy plate and stainless steel bits in the spring, first it needs a new MOT in a few weeks so i've been only busy getting the car running again
so also put the stock fuel tank back under, with the filler cap in the trunk as the alloy plate's in the rear block the original cap
harnesses mounted
and it runs again

the christmas holiday i've been busy clearing out my second storage, after a week i finally was able to get the car inside and with just enough room to work on it if the weather is bad
took it for a small shakedown and i found that the knobs of the window mechanism were rattling, so i've modified them with a delrin bearing and a new fixing, the mounting to the window frame has also been altered; from a hex bolt with a 3D ring to a stainless ring with a flathead screw
also shortened the doorhandles, made the mounting shorter so they feel much more solid (previously you were able to wobble them up and down a little), still not 100% happy with them, will make something new once the front cage (doorcrosses) are in
finally a wash and it went back into the storage. productive weekend
next weekend to Germany for a snowboardingweekend and after that; bring on the MOT it's done 460km since last year so it should fly through with ease

Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
car was allready in a storage unit but i've been busy getting that storage unit to a level where there would be a efficient storage and a small workspace at the same time, i still do a lot of stuff next to the house but this way i don't need to worry about tools laying around and stuff and if i need to fabricate something it simply is a 250m walk to the workshop
finally started with the EFI conversion, first i removed most of the carburator related stuff
then tried on the new manifold, needs a tiny amount of trimming but nearly there

You must be trippin
LSD is a great idea for this car. What ECU are you going to use with the fuel injection system?

Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
KMS , it will control both fuel and ignition (DIS coil)
Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
Love the fact you're going fuel injection, I bet you'll be able to get a load more power out of it and much more safely

Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
since it will get a DIS coil i no longer need the distrubuter, as the shaft potentially is a nice place for securing wiring etc i intend to keep it in place for now but it will lose the dizzy cap offcourse so i made a new cover
also converted the throttle operation from cable downward to the rear,
made a bracket for the fuel pressure regulator
more soon, i intend to enjoy the good weather the following weeks

I just found out reason why my projects progress so slowly, your wirebrush is exactly like mine, but your has green handle, mine has red handle, of course that must be reason why my projects are at full stop or almost
Your car is bit insane, mad, crazy, lot of very beautiful work

Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
cheers Jani
here's the fuel pressure regulator on the engine;
time for some plumbing..
found out i'm short on couplings, ouch... another order made; waiting for them to arrive so i can get started on making all the hoses.
i'm also redoing the oilfeed for the turbo, it'll be much shorter and withoud the R5's adapter. only problem is that the adapter had a sensor in it aswell, that had to move too so i've decided to run a second sandwichplate, one for the oil cooler and another one for the sensors
then on with the lh side, making a bracket for the KMS DIS-coil and aquamist pump; as the car isn't stored around the corner of our garage i started with a quick sketch in CAD
cutting a piece of 0,8mm brushed stainless steel
bending
making radius edges
nerly there..
made threaded mounting points on the lathe
welded
and fitted the coil and pump
and in the car with vibrating dampers under the plate; fits spot on
that'll be my spare time for the week; gonna enjoy the good weather now the next few days

Re: Anjo's 340Turbo: EFI conversion
also modified my oil separator, it wasn't efficient enough so i enlargened the fittings to ø22mm and the oil drain wasn't the lowest point so a bit of oil and condensed water was stuck in the resevoir
first off with the old mounting plate
new plate + hose connections
welded

All this must be giving some "purists" that we know multiple heart attacks!
As ever top class work Anjo, more impressive by the day - an absolute credit to you!

Cheers Mac
today i started on the aquamist tank
i started with calculating and cutting a few plates to form the lid and bottom
tacking and welding
and machining
for the filler cap and pump connection
connections for the fluid indicator
almost done
made a lid
windscreen washer bottle in the same style;
more tomorrow
