If you think of selling rather than restoring yourself, please give me a shout. I am quite close being in Cardiff and would happily sacrifice my gl to put this back on the road.

Good luck with it.

Ian.

I hope you don't blame a man for trying.

Good luck with it, hope that the restoration goes well.

Sweet. If you're up here sometime you'll have to come for a spin in the 740...see what a totally stock B230FK can do with a few bolt-ons. We'll be taking it to the dyno in a month or so, and we're going to cry if it doesn't make 300bhp...hopefully more. Got 24psi of boost back last night, so we should be in business. Depend on how much of a choke the smaller wheel is in the new turbo.

cheers

I'd be very surprised if you wont make 300bhp, if it made ~270bhp at 4800rpm before! Mind you, redblocks suck at the flowz at high rpm

276bhp @ 4800rpm @ 20psi. We should now make good power to redline (which at 20psi will see us over 300), and be running in the mid 20s, boost-wise. I don't wanna jinx it, but we're hoping for a good result. 300 is the target...any more will be a bonus.

You'd be most welcome dude...but bear in mind that it's likely to be off the road for the winter. There have been mutterings about a big-valve 531...

cheers

I would've thought a big valved head would be a big bonus when running boost levels like that?

It'll help at any level...more power-per-psi. Once you raise the boost past a certain point, you rapidly get into diminishing returns unless the pressure in the inlet manifold can be relieved by what comes after it...head, manifold, turbo, exhaust. We've got a 3" turboback exhaust, but the rest ideally needs enlarging. Peter Linnsen's 740 race car made 400whp with standard inlet and exhaust manifolds and a T3/T4 hybrid, but that was with a very trick Sten Parner 531 head. I don't know what it makes now he uses a straight T4 (from memory), but he can waste 911 Turbos in a straight line...still on standard manifolds. Ooof.

It's what the T5 guys found when they removed the girly TD04s and used larger Garretts...they suddenly went from making 300bhp on a good day to 400+, with little extra boost being used to achieve it. If we want to get much beyond say 325, it's going to need a bigger hotside on the turbo, and a worked-over head. Both are on the cards. Last thing I heard he was selling it...but then the other day the word "Holset" was mentioned. Watch this space?

cheers

Well last Wednesday i hired a trailer and towed my red 360 from my parents house in shropshire to Swansea so i can start to work on it.
I have started putting the interior back together so i know i have all the parts in one place.

A bit risky, letting the car in the car ;-) I had a slight mishap with one once, which resulted in a new passenger seat

Love the red 3dr GLT, well worth the effort restoring it, I'm sure!

As a rule of thumb i've never been a fan of red cars but it really suits GLT's with colour coded bumpers, looks fairly tidy bar the dented side.

What are the rims from an E30?

Good reg plate :P Hope it goes together ok! If you have any trim etc missing/broken let me know, I've got loads of plastic 300 bits jamming up the shed at the moment, only problem is there are for a 4 door! but some bits look the same. Expect you've got a similar shed already!
