My 360 GLT - Welded diff
Got this beast for free No tax or mot, it needed a new windscreen and a couple of patches of welding. This is a few pics of it just after passing the mot......
First job was to sort out the suspension. So thanks to Classicswede for the lowering blocks (I'll be ordering springs next )
And these 90's front (or should that read 300 rear) dampers
The dampers being fitted. As assured they were a direct fit, even down to the fact I used the landy washers and bushes, great success! I'm impressed by how cheap they are, how easy they were to fit and the improvement in the handling.
360 damper vs. 90 damper
Old off.........
New on.......
Fitted the lowering blocks today
STANCE!!!!!!!!!
The exhaust proved to be a PITA by resting on the rear beam! So I made a quick side exit exhaust modification to it (read bodge, pics tomorrow)
Next is to sort out the front suspension and some rims............... would love some Rota GT3's (expensive, but worth it?), what do ya reckon?

Re: My 360 GLT - Build thread
Please excuse my ignorance, but what wheels are they and where can I get some? I would like to paint the centres in the same colour blue as my new glt and put them on there.
Thanks,
Ian.
Thanks,
Ian.

The wheels are Rota GT3 and you can get them from http://www.rarerims.co.uk/AUTOMAN wrote:what wheels are they and where can I get some?

i don't agree with that, i think this chrome rim red centre combo looks great. i do like to see it photoshopped with 7 spoke rims in this styleSpeedy88 wrote:White would look so much better on that imo

Very nice wheels. But spend that much money on wheels which are ET40 is a waste. I can't see the offset of this wheels, but most are ET40 and not even 4x100.
Something thats is ET0 and 7J will fit perfect, and looks great.

Re: My 360 GLT - Build thread
I was gonna say, they are a great design but usually high offsets... anything below 30 with a 7-8" width will look great if you can get them to that spec!

Bu**er yeah the offset is really weak plus don't feel massivley happy running huge spacers. Some wide 13" steel might be the order of the day

Side exit exhaust
Fitted my old steering wheel using a random steering wheel boss that I found at work, god only know what it was intended for but it fits!

I'm liking your speedy turn around, you don't waste your time do you
Keep it up at this rate and you'll have a sweet looking ride, if it turns out even half as cool as your Sierra was you know your onto a winner.

Re: My 360 GLT - Build thread
Well after sorting out the exhaust I was annoyed with the front ride height, so I cracked out the angle grinder and gave the front springs a seeing to ........................ which ended in disaster! The n/s spring cup that looked fine from underneath had corroded from above, due to the drain hole being blocked by mud probably for the past 20 years So this is what happened.......
.....leaving the strut looking like this.......
Oh bottoms
So I think some home brewed coilovers are the order of the day, the 300 struts are 52mm which mean I'll have to go for a 2.5" diameter adjustable coil spring conversion . Anyway they look like this.......
At the moment the car is sat on the bump stops at the front giving a rude ride height but some suspension is better than no suspension

Re: My 360 GLT - Build thread
The suspension bits came.....
Getting a mate to weld them on to the struts on monday, can't wait I took a guess with the springs and went for 225lbs ones hope there going to be stiff enough!
Also pick up some cheap split rims off an MX5 too, going to take them apart (which I've started and now realised is a massive pain in the bottom!) polish the hell out of the rim and paint the centres a horrid colour.
There only 6jx14" but they were dead cheap and I'm happy with them.
Any ideas on colour schemes for the wheels welcome

It's been done before on Wheel Whores, but it does look good, flurecent sp pink looks good against black, as would Dyno Rod orange or slime green
