at the moment student money wont allow car building :( and the fact my garage has fell down  well we've had it 20+yrs and it was old site huts before that not bad for wood i spouse
but anyway volvo wise the bmw engine is gone (stupid idea) it would off messed up the handling to much and a replacement is planned and lots more little things that i dont want to say before i start building as its all very much in the air design wise, but it will be diesel thats all i can say :D

Glad to see ze Germans have been sent packing! sm56 Just kidding...looked interesting!

VW 1.9? Solid engine...that mated to a 360 drivetrain (easy install) should be pretty solid, and they make lots of power easily.

cheers

No, it doesn't...sorry...wasn't too clear on that point...you'd need to make an adaptor. But the 360 drivetrain would take the torques one of those things delivers (in vaguely stock form, anyway). A bellhousing adaptor is a lot less radical than shoehorning in a different drivetrain.

The engine in question is fitted to almost everything they made between about 1993 and...er...last year? Older ones have less electronics. They're hilariously tiny...here's one in a 240...
