well its starting to get a bit heavy on the ££££'s now
as im starting to gather all the parts to fit my dellorto dhla 40s now
i have just purchased a k cam
im also after a hydro handbrake
twin 40s service kit and correct sized jets
inlet manifold for carbs £150 from dai
air filters and throttle linkage
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
fuel pipes and unions
and a free'r flowing exhaust
and lose abit more wiegh from the body sound deadening and unnessesary items
longer wheel studs for spacers

had some dramas today that were sorted with the bodgest of bodges
well the front part of my gear linkage (the bar that holds the gear stick assembly in place) decided it was going to fail after tuesday nights drift sesh
and i could not be bothered and didnt have the time to remove the torque tube, exhaust and whatever else to sort it properly and also didnt have any money for new parts so my friend got a small piece of metal and tack welded it to the gear stick assembly then the other end the the floor
its rough i know but holy crap the gears now feel brand new it feels like a short shift compared to before so im guessing it has been on its way out for a while
i also noticed that my center box is fubared due to lowness so that will be getting removed and replaced with a straight pipe and i toasted my manifold gaskets once again due to drift sesh lol
also got my front fogs to work so im generally happy :D

so stuff to do;
remove viscous fan and replace with electric one
remove front part of gear linkage (it rattles and is annoying)
replace centre box with straight pipe
remove sound deadening
add a tad more seering lock (remove small plastic rings)

so there will be a few updates soon
cheers

im gutted :( :(
just had a quick nosey around my car and noticed its being eaten away by rust
the bottoms of both front wings are going which i already knew about (the corner of the pass wing is gone  )
Image
Image
the next few images arent very clear but you can kind of get the jist
underneath the fuse box had already been plated but its buggered again and worse now (i can see daylight)
Image
the bracket that holds the battery in place has snapped
and underneath the battery is a huge hole
right hand rear jacking point has already been plated but has become a hole again
Image
common area along leading edge of bonnet is going too
Image

my MOT isnt due till october but its still frustrating
so im undecided on what to ill either just repair the areas that are fubared and leave it or ill respray it
the worst thing is that i spray cars for a living yet i doubt ill be able to afford to actually do my own car
but i have spent money on parts and i love the car to bits so it wont be getting sold and it wont be getting scrapped in my ownership
so ill need to get raiding the scrap metal skip at work and learn to weld i guess :D :D
or maybe just get someone else to do it lol as ill just burn more holes than there are now lol
so there will probs be lots of updates in the near future 340pw

you paint cars for a living?
find a chap that can weld, is busy with his own car and needs a painter; drop the 360 of there and let him get his hands on the welding  winner combination!

you could also save up all the leftover paintbottles with a few cc's in em, in the end poor it all into 1 can and spray it; that must look like rainbow

yeah i do :D :D
and lol unfortunatley if you mix heaps of different paints it always ends up purple or brown lol
then if i need to repair it i wont be able to match it
but yeah ill ask around some of the panel beaters at my work if they will do it for a couple of favours or moneys
it shouldnt actually be too big a deal to get done it was just shocking finding it all :(
poor car but she will rise again and take on the world!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry this was a surprise to you - I made a point of showing the hole under the battery to your old man before I took his money. I could never sell a guy a car with hidden faults, especially a comrade V3M'er. Shame the fuse box rust has resurfaced. Be careful with that one, any rust near the suspension turret will be scrutinised pretty closely come MOT time.

Glad you love the car as much as I did - and very pleased you're making it your own. Don't give up, you wont find another one quite like that one, warts 'n all.

Keep up the good work

i knew there were bits here and there but it wasnt till i took the time to look round it properly in the day light
but it just gives me something new to learn i can weld ok i just need to learn how to set up the welder
i may well weld it all up nicely and paint under the bonnet some bright colour in the near future :D :D
i do i love the car so much its sooogood to drive hasnt missed a beat yet just need to up the power a tad lol
