so i started stripping my spare axle today and i cracked the mythical beat thats is the 300 rear hub lol
i got both of them seperated in well under an hour and with a fair bit of ease
i used the three legged pullers and tightenend them as tight as they would go
then i battered the front of the hub with a large hammer
resulting in epic WIN!!!!!
but i cant swap the brakes for the 360 ones as the drums are bigger meaning ill have to put up with poop 340 handbrake
but ill make up for it with a hydro wand!!!! :D :D :D :D
but any way thats all for tonight im pooped lol

well i was working away on my axle last night until 4.30 this morning    lol
and had some issues basically one of my nice new motaquip bearings decied to fall apart when i was putting it in!!! sm31
but anyways pics!!!!
separating the 2 parts of hub broke my pullers :( (rip draper pullers sm50 )
Image
lots of shouting, cigrettes and irn bru later and...
Image
woohhhoooo!
the differences 360 hub first
Image
then 340 one
Image
stripped on one side
Image
differences between the bearing housings 340 one on the left i needed to grind the lip flat
Image
Image
like so.
new bearing fitted on one side
Image
Image
one side finished
and the aftermath of my dads garage lol
Image
thats all for just now my dad ordered me a new bearing and is picking it up for me so i should have the car finished today
its alot of work but will be worth it in the end when i get bearings easily
well worth the hassle
but is quite a big job but doable with a big enough hammer and a lot of fags

how did you fit that bearing before it fell apart?

you need a stamp so that the outer ring (wich you try to get into the hub) gets pressed, and NOT the inner ring; pressing the bearing in the wrong way results in a damaged bearing; even if the bearing stays intact
