By scrap, do you mean a none working pair, or a working pair from a scrapyard? Either way I'm interested

I didnt realise fitting 240 calipers was quite so easy. Very interesting indeed...

Yes 240 calipers are dead easy to fit they do just bolt on, they seem to fit just about everything

Scrap yard set...presumed working, but not guaranteed. Same goes for 240 ones, although I bet you can find those yourself fairly easily!
cheers

240 Girling calipers and Carlton vented discs should no mod or just slight fine tune to fit into 360 front brakes.
Price to new set (2discs and calibers) without pads will be around 200 euros.
That is my way to do front, cheap and easy it must be

Yeh i have been toying with the idea of different calipers, dunno what yet, i know of some 740 turbo ones does anyone know if they are the same as 240 ones? They looked rather large to say the least!!! Maybe a bit too big for 400 disks?
If anyone wants to compare disk sizes etc this is a good site!!!!
www.needforspeed.co.uk
Just search parts by car and put the car details in of parts you think are compatible, i know you can get all disk dimensions which is very handy!!!!

7series calipers are very different. One thing i forgot to mention is you need to join both the pipes together as 300's only have 1.

700s are generally considered to have the worst brakes of the older big Volvos....so I've heard....from a bloke in a pub....

Am interested in the 480 ones then. PM with a price if you like.
I'll stick with the original 480 plane for now, as I've inherited 2 sets of brake pads for them. If that doesnt go too well there's plenty of 240 ones around. Just need to get some Carlton discs now. Oh, and a car

Hi Carl,
It's likely to be a little while, so I'll pick up a set next time I see them, and get in touch afterwards. If by then you don't want them...I'll use them for my own research. Want the discs too?
cheers

Ok i shall leave the 740 calipers then!!! I'm quite tempted by the 400 ones as the solid disks feel good on a 400, as i had to drive my dads 440 whilst my sill was being done, quite a bit better than 300 ones i must admit!!!

A lot of the unhappiness with the 300s series brakes is with the feel...to my mind, they're under-assisted in hard braking situations, which doesn't inspire confidence.
cheers

Chris_C's GLT has vented brakes, and we're VERY interested to find out exactly what they are....

I must admit, I don't get what you're on about Foggy with regards feel... Kar has always felt over assisted. And I should actually have the brakes off Beast this weekend (yeah, I've been saying it for a while, but my boat is arriving soon, so Fake needs to be in a towing state, and I need the room
