I would be interested to get the dimensions of these blocks and bolts :P If you can tell what kind of bolts I need to use if I make my own blocks it would be nice. Though we have that kind of lowering blocks in our GL but I wouldn't want to take them out just to measure the bolts etc... What about these Spax shocks? Are they commonly available or are those some custom ordered bits. There's this shop near here named Rally&Race which sells 40mm lowering front springs for 300-series but there are no shocks listed. If those are commonly available maybe they could order those shocks too. GLT needs better suspension for sure and I am trying to find the best solution which doesn't require huge amount of custom made/ordered parts. Trying to keep cost low. :P

300 series suspension.....on a budget?! That's a good one, tell another ;-)

The Spax shocks were £120 rear, £200 front.

cheers

If they are going to be £200 (€290.821) we'd better go for the Koni group buy, they are €250 foro a pair of front shocks.
Koni's for the front, Spax for the rear. €420 for a full shock upgrade. you could buy another 360 for that!

I've been very busy currently. The lowering blocks are £20 a set I will measure the bolts and post sizes tomorrow.

Thanks

Is it possible for me to buy those blocks? Do you ship outside of UK? And if you do what are the payment options. :P

This is all there is about lowering the rear end of a 300... Just a piece of square steel tubing and 4 long high quality bolts...

I'd imagine there's nothing special at all about them...but consider the time and effort involved with finding the right pieces and preparing them as a kit for those who don't want to (or don't have the ability to) go to the hassle of sorting blocks and bolts for themselves. I think £20 is a bargain, and if I were in the market for lowering blocks I'd most likely buy them. One other supplier is quoting £75 a set.

As it happens, I'd rather have the stock springs retempeted, as I need to retain the ability to carry heavy loads without bottoming out...which it should be noted is the risk with this setup, as they offer NO stiffening at all. Having said that, it's the only cheap and easy way, and I fully recommend it for those who don't need the carrying capacity.

We need all the 300 series parts suppliers we can get, so anyone taking the time and effort to CUSTOM make parts for us, especially at what I consider to be a very reasonable price, ought to be welcomed with open arms.

Having said that, it's a bloody shame that the shocks cost so much!

cheers

Well in that case... I can do nothing else but agree... I thougt these were "more" special or original parts...

If these blocks are going to be "mass" produced I would not mind buying some too...
I would like something in the range of 40 mm. (I will check my car tomorrow, maybe I will go even lower...
I have got a set of extra Daf leaf springs which I can mount under the stock ones. And I have a set of original Volvo caravan coil springs for the rear.
So stiffness is no problem for me...
Those coils have quite a simple construction aswell... I will make some pics's of those.
If someone is good with steel these could be made in larger amounts aswell...

EDIT: Indeed those shocks are still quite expensive... are they adjustable?
It's a good thing I found out today my current ones are Koni Adjustables , I almost ordered some Spax...

The bolts need to be M10x70mm long for a 25mm drop. You need to put in locating pins as the spring has a raised lug and the plate has a hole to take the lug.
I'm not sure how much for shipping outside of the uk, I will have to find out in the week. I think it would more cost effective if a number of people buy at the same time.
