Can anyone's car lock the rears on tarmac using the handbrake?
Easily. I only hear two clicks when I handbrake in the parking. It doesn't take much effort to let it slide on the handbrake either.

Mine neither - and that's with new rear cylinders and shoes.

Is this a 340 vs 360 thing - or am I just not showing enough comitment to the death slide?

This is definitely wierd...my car seems to have uber brakes (for stock), yet I can't lock it up on the handbrake.

cheers

VERY interesting development. You've inspired me to plan something similar. Might try using integra type r calipers as they have quite a good pad selection.

Are you planning on upgrading the master cylinder? If so to which one?

Also im guessing you will probably want to try a brake bias adjuster or proportioning valve.

I'm gonna run on the standard master cylinder to start with to see what happens, and the same with the biasing valve. I read on converting a 240 to V70R brakes and calipers you use the pressure valve from the front at the back to even things out, so this is an option.

well we did many 180's when we wrong slotted the other night on single track roads and the rally car with hydro handbrake will lock em in any conditions and at any speed. unless my bro drives  .the button is reversed so if you want it to stay on you press button...ie if you just pull it ,it doesnt stay up, but his mind tells him to press button and then the car stalls :)

whats the story with bolting the calipers on? i assume you need some form of adaptor plate, but this will throw the caliper outwards. is there room for this?

To get the caliper to line up with the disk, doe it have to sit against the mount on the strut, or do you need a spacer?

Cheers, Al.

Its all a real PITA TBH mate and the hub had to be machined to give me any space to mount the caliper behind on the strut, the brackets will make the caliper run in line with the original, if you move this you will seriously upset the balance and unsprung weight of the car and to solve this i am trying to get my hands on some ally 4pots!!! Poss RX7 like the ones on ebay at the mo!!

I usually only have one click. Two and the rears are not going anywhere.

Funny thing is, I have the opposite to Foggy. The brakes are nothing special (compared to the 245 or my Skyline) but the handbrake locks on like pit-bull!!

Well guys its late and i have been busy finishing this project off, the front will definately be using 280mm disks and impreza turbo calipers, they will also squeeze inside a volvo 15" rim. You couldnt get bigger caliper and brake setup inside a 15 if you tried, i swear!!!!
I will post pics when i get a chance as its now 99% done.
Although not on the car itself yet, on doner strut and rear axle.
If all goes well, may make some new lines up and bolt it all on on sunday!!!
