steering stiff

some little steering breaker tried thieving me non pas 340 the other night and tried to snap the lock but my car dont have 1 it was parked against the curb and he thought it was locked and therefore has made my steering go stiff will i need a new 1 or can it be fixed.?oh does any1 wanna buy a thieving little scumbag for a punch bag as i have 1 in the basement.....cheers

I would suspect something is bent and you need to renew that. I don't know what might bend, I never heard of a rack going stiff like that after being stressed.

Try isolating various parts of it.
1. Loosen the rack pre-load, if then ok then try to adjust the preload for firm but not sticking across the full steering range.

2. Seperate the steering damper to see if the stiffness is just in the steering column. Column maybe bent or bracing brackets bent so alignment has gone.

3. Check the steering arms are not touching anything.
